Alternative Medicine - September 2006

People seem to think that taking a drug helps cure them of something. I know of no drug that is able to cure. I am not talking about anti-biotics now. I would like to know of a drug that cures.

I'm 47 and I've been struggling with sleep for YEARS. I have limited or almost eliminated caffeine, I exercise, I have carefully modified my diet, and still finding a solid night's sleep has been elusive. My doctor perscriped a powerful medicine, Trazadone, which works, but it's a drug. I KNOW that regular use of that could become a problem. Now I take a small dose (3mg) of Melatonin each night, and I feel like I've found the answer. Is there a down-side to Melatonin? It seems to work beautifully. I'm wondering if I'm overlooking something.

Hi, I have a drug test tomorrow, and the last time I smoked was near the end of July, around the 28th. Two weeks before that I was smoking about 5 times a week since April, so I was wondering if it would be clear out of my system. It has been 38 days since.

My timeline:
April-July 17th or so [5-6 times a week]
july 17th-July 27th [ Twice]
July 27th- now [none]

Should I be worried?

I'm 5'10" 190lbs, a little flabby.

my friend bought a medical device that draws out blood. first, you need to poke the place about 5 times around where you want to draw blood out with a needle they give you and then you put a little bulb on top of it and you have to tighten it and let the air out so there's pressure on the points.. then blood comes out of the holes. he does it until blood fills to the top rim of the bulb. there's a book that comes with it and the it shows you the areas you should draw blood. he bought it from a korean market and its supposed to help people medically. he has done it before but he wants to do alot all over his back.. usually he does it maybe 3 areas=3 bulbs.. but he's doing it all over his back! i tried to talk to him about it but he says its safe... IS IT? Im worried about this and pissed of his ignorance. i want to know if you know what this is and if it is safe! its a korean and chinese practice.

Lately I've been feeling more anxious than usual. I am currently taking Wellbutrin XL (300 MG), Effexor ER (150 MG), and Ativan (1 MG). I really don't want to up the MG of any of the perscription drugs. I was thinking an herbal supplement maybe to take the edge off a little bit.
Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated!

My boyfriend has been having tightness in his chest and sever nasal congestion and sinus pain for over a year. I am having trouble clipping my mom's toenails and she will not see a doctor. I think she has a fungus because her toenails are thick and rigidy and discolored. I have tried over-the-counter remedies but they have not helped yet. She is 76 and will not see a physician for this problem. Does anyone have a home remedy that works?
