my friend bought a medical device that draws out blood. first, you need to poke the place about 5 times around where you want to draw blood out with a needle they give you and then you put a little bulb on top of it and you have to tighten it and let the air out so there's pressure on the points.. then blood comes out of the holes. he does it until blood fills to the top rim of the bulb. there's a book that comes with it and the it shows you the areas you should draw blood. he bought it from a korean market and its supposed to help people medically. he has done it before but he wants to do alot all over his back.. usually he does it maybe 3 areas=3 bulbs.. but he's doing it all over his back! i tried to talk to him about it but he says its safe... IS IT? Im worried about this and pissed of his ignorance. i want to know if you know what this is and if it is safe! its a korean and chinese practice.

he uses it because he says the bad thick blood will come out. he has alot of stress on his body so he says this soothes the pain and takes out the sticky blood. and also, he bought this stuff at the market.

There is a practice where chinese "doctors" put needles all over the body and then theres one where you put a cup over certain points of the body and let it suck on your skin. However, I've only known that these "doctors'' doing it and I dont suggest it for personal practice and blood? Maybe a little but I dont know what you mean when it fills to the rim. Idk, my 2 cents. I dont know the specifics.

I have never heard of such a practice, however, being in the medical field for over 8 years, I do know that what your friend is doing is VERY dangerous. Not only is it dangerous to draw blood if you are not trained to do so, in his back is even worse, he could paralyze himself. If your friend refuses to listen, just make sure that you do not decide to become one of his victims. What is the practice suppose to do medically for the patient? Ask your physician.

in the american indian culture we call it blood letting.
i would not suggest doing this yourself.
what it does is move the chi and pull stagnant chi out of the body (to put it in terms most people can understand).
i've had it done before by a chinese medicine doc. and loved it.

Sounds pretty unhealthy to me to do it that many times. If he draws too much blood, he could get a mineral deficiency and get really ill. He should stop and talk to his doctor before he does that anymore.
