My husband has kidney stones that he has not passed yet. But he isn't currently in any pain. It's been 2 weeks and nothing yet. Does anyone know anything that can help to pass them quicker?

My husband had a kidney stone and he passed it after about 1 1/2 weeks after it had passed into his bladder. He was in the hospital over night for pain management when it passed from his kidney to his bladder. If they are still in his kidneys he will be in awful pain when they pass into his bladder. His was pretty small(about 4 mm) so it didn't hurt when he passed it from his bladder. He said it actually felt kind of like an orgasm. Tell him to drink lots of water. The more the better to help get them flushed out before they get any bigger. If he has trouble urinating he might have one blocking the passage, get him to the doctor quick.

Kidney stones can be blocking or nonblocking...however...they can sometimes dissolve or breakup and pass without you knowing that they have passed....Drink alot of water...but for sure go to your doctor and have an x-ray to make sure they are not blocking any flow to the bladder as your other kidney will compensate for the blockage but the blocked kidney may actually die! Get the x-ray done to see if the stone has passed or if it is still in the body.

Jean Carper's book Food: Your Miracle Medicine has an excellent section on dealing with kidney stones. See also Murray & Pizzorno's Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine for a good discussion and advice. Drinking eight to twelve glasses of water a day is probably not a bad idea if you have healthy kidneys.

Drinking plenty of fluids is the only thing that will help, other than having ultrasonice or electrohydraulic treatment to break them up more. Neither of those treatments is painful, but passing the kidney stones is!!!! I've seen patients on morphine still moan, groan, and scream when the stones pass.

Hope they pass quickly!

Drink lots of water and pray. Ouch!
Sometimes the kidney stones break up into smaller pieces and he may not even have known he passed them.

I had passed many kidney stones until I finally forced myself to drink a gallon of water per day. - no stones for the last 10 years. You may have a stone snagged in your bladder. --- A stone snagged in your bladder sends pain to different areas of your body. -- I know it sounds weird, but a urologist will tell you the same thing. To get it loose, you would need them to explore your bladder, or you will need to flush it loose with lots and lots of cranberry juice. Good luck. -- PS: For pain relief of the bladder and kidneys and ureters ask your doctor about 'Elmiron" . It is designed for relief of pain specifically for your urinary track. --- It is a sulfur derivative. If "filling" means "feeling of urgency" then Elmiron works for that too.
