Hobbies & Crafts - October 2006

I have this notebook/journal thingy and I write what's goin' on in my life but not just that...I have all of the poems I have written, favorite song lyrics, favorite quotes, inspirational stories, etc. I am looking for some more stuff to put in it...Do you have any ideas of other things I could add or some things that would fit in the categories I have already listed? Thanks for the ideas!

I'm trying to steal this street sign (don't worry its not a stop sign, just a residental street sign), i got the nuts and bolts off of it, but it has something on the top that won't come on and still holds the sign in place, it looks something like this:

how do i get the sign out? lol there are no more nuts and bolts to be taken out!

I have this coin collection that is fairly extensive. My oldest coin dates to the Civil War. What I want is to know the actual value of these coins. If someone can give me the link to a site to do this or just give me the answer they will be awarded the best answer. Here are the three coins.

My mother-in-law wants to make a quilt made up of quilt boxes picturing guns for an avid collector. The boxes can be any size, 4"x4", 5"x5", whatever. Or, does anyone know where fabric with guns on it can be purchased? Thanks!

Just bought an OTRON telescope. Have it set up but not sure if its set up properly,can anyone tell me what i ought to be seeing?What lenses i should be using etc................as the info booklet seems to have been translated directly from some crazy language into english and makes no sense.......maybe ive been up too long?

Hi all, I have a beautiful white knitted baby rug that my mother hand knitted. She made my sisters and I the same and its been used and used and washed and washed,. 3 grown boys later its in perfect condition and I hate to see it folded up in my cupboard. Besides a throw rug has anyone got ideas on what I could do with it, I dont mind it being cut up to be used for something crafty aslong as it can be kept.

I'd like to make some palm-sized bean bags for children. Someone told me that rice was better than beans as a filling because if it gets loose it is less likely to be a choking hazard or to get stuck up a child's nose. Is this true? Or are beans okay? What kind of beans, rice or other filling would you recommend?

When set up this frame will be over 100" on each side but will adjust to any size and breaks down into several pieces of wood that are on big nuts and bolts. I found it when I searched several weeks ago but can't find it now. It retails for under $300 and can be ordered direct from the company. Thanks.
