Does anyone out there remember the old 70’s board game “Bonkers!”? I thought it was a lot of fun. The game featured a board in the form of a crazy track. You rolled your dice and moved your pawn the number of spaces indicated by the dice (just like Monopoly). You were also given some cards to play. The cards would say things like “Ahead 3” or “Back 2”, or “Go to Start”. You would place the card on the track beside your pawn (if there was not a card already there) and follow the directions. What would happen after a while would be something like this: 1) you roll your dice and roll a 5, 2) you move your pawn ahead 5, 3) there is already a card on this space which says “Ahead 2”, 4) you move ahead 2, 5) there is already a card on this space that says “Back 4”, 6) you move back 4, 7) there is already a card on this space that says “Ahead 3”, 8) you move ahead 3, 9) there is already a card on this space that says “Go to Start”, 10) you move your pawn back to Start, 11) you score a point but there is already another pawn on this space and so you have to roll again!! As you can see, it got real crazy after a while. Your turn could last for several minutes until someone else stopped you. “Bonkers!” was a good description of the game. I thought it was a lot of fun. Does anyone else remember “Bonkers!”?
