I was studying abroad in Mexico this past spring semester, and as usual I wanted a glass of water or juice before bed.... GOOD water was harder to get so I settled for some orange juice. But KAPOWEE!!!!.... my orange juice was knocked into the sink by my friends crazy host brother who told me that orange juice is too acidic and could kill me while I sleep. lol the saying (as I remember) is as follows...
"Jugo (de naranja) en la manana es oro, en la tarde es plata, en el noche se mata." (orange juice is gold in the morning, silver in the evening....but kills you at night)
And even though my friend and I promised them we had never had problems with the acid while we slept, they poured out our OJ cartons and acted like we were offending them. But they let us drink grape or apple juice.
ANY MEXICANS/HISPANICS in the US who have heard that saying???
