I'm planning to buy a mandoline but am shocked by the prices I've seen so far. Bourdain in his book says that one doesn't not need spend that much for a mandoline... which I agree. But my question is : what do we need to look for when we are buying a mandoline? A famous book-selling website which is now selling kitchenware, sells a range for just about £30. I wonder how efficient that is. Has any of you got any recommendations/suggestions about it?

I thought that yeast extract was healthy. Now I've been warned off it because it contains MSG, but I can't see it in the ingredients. Does yeast extract contain MSG or not?

I have alot of them left over but there're pretty old. I can't find the expiration date anywhere. Throwing them out seem like a waste but i'm afraid to eat them. What should i do?

This might be strange, but in the past I've hated the taste of cheese, so I haven't eaten it at all. However, in the past few weeks I've eaten cheeseburgers, and they weren't too bad. I'm going to try to learn to like cheese, perferably starting out with cheese in sandwiches. Any advice for types of cheese I should have. I had american cheese with the burgers, which seemed ok, although not too flavorful. Lots of sandwich stores in the city make sandwiches with provolone cheese, but I've heard that provolone is rather strong tasting and might not be good to start with. What would be a good way to start liking cheese?

There is something about it, don't ask me, that is why I am asking you. Ok, if you want ask me, I think it is extremely Deeelish. Call me krazee, but I am going to go ahead and say I am just right on with my taste for fish and pancakes in the same meal.
