Entertaining (Food & Drink)

This is a casual party but there will be roughly 100 people there. I dont know what kinds of foods everyone will like or which caterers are good. Should i cook myself? There are just to many options. I am also trying not to spend alot of money. Thanks for your help!

Anyone know of any fun dinner graces?

What do you say at dinner? Ours is ''We thank you for the food before us, we thank you for the family beside us, and we thank you for the love between us, amen'' its getting kind of old though, we could use some new ones.
I dont care if its religous or not.

Can a venue charge for damages due to a cancellation by the booking party before anything has taken place?

A popular venue was booked for a wedding reception. The reception was cancelled (within 30 days of the event) by the customer due to unforseen circumstances. The venue charged a cancellation fee of 60% (because the cancellation was within 45 days of the event - cancellation clause was in the booking contract), plus forfieture of 100% of the booking deposit. Since there was no food or services ordered for the event (nothing but the room deposit was done), and the venue can be easily re-booked, are there really damages?
