My sister has brought her kids to my mom's Christmas party for the past two years, and we are really starting to get annoyed because I swear they are the spawn of the devil. They teared down the decorations last year, stuck their fingers in my moms rum cake when they had just came from playing out side, and on top of that the year before they through a rock right at my mom sliding glass window, which cracked so she had to end up replacing it. How can I tell my sister to leave her kids at home, or just not to come at all with out being mean? I know she is a single mother, but you think that someone would have better control over their kids.

In 2 weeks i am planning on hosting a house warming party, It is my first house, and i am only 19 so i am super excited about it! I am inviting family and friends. There will be at least 25 people there, What would be the best way to do this? Have it as a dinner or a day party, and what types of things do i do except show the house. If i prepare dinner what do i make for that many people? And if i dont prepare dinner what kind of food do i serve? Any tips would be much appreciated. I am a little lost when it comes to planning this as i am planning this on my own. Thanks!!!

I'm going to make Portuguese Orange Cake and Portuguese Sweet Bread and an Apple Pie. The party is going to be from 4-6 on Sunday. What savory foods should I serve? I'd like something light but substantial enough that those going directly to church afterwards won't be hungry for supper....

Have any of you had or been to a party where they had a hog roast? What was it like? We are thinking of serving this at our engagement party, but having never had one myself I don't know what to expect!

I have to plan a theme Christmas dinner for our section at work for a progressive dinner. Our them was a southern Christmas, but that's been done so much. I want to make it more of a classic southern Christmas, like what you're Grandparents would have done. I need some ideas on what types of foods to have people bring or different decorations I can do. We're going to have a classic ham I know, but everything else is up in the air. I do need somthing that is easy to serve though and ideas that are ok for an office party. Thanks for all the help and have a Merry Christmas!

It's for a pot luck lunch at the office so I won't be able to serve it warm, unless I microwave it, which is a pain. Ham can be served cold, but someone else is already bring ham.

I'm organising a christmas dinner for 9 (hungry) people and I simply have no idea what sort of quantities of vegetables people will get through. We're vegetarian and our main dishes are going to be:- Parsnip Gratin, "Eat"loaf (meat loaf made with Quorn), Lentil Roast, Festive Jalousie (puff pastry pie). Side dishes are more traditional. Huge pot of roast pototoes, carrots, red cabbage, Brussel sprouts, peas and various sauces and gravies. Should I include any other vegetables? What sort of quantites should I allow? Please help!

Do you often have dinner guests?

2006-11-26 21:43:57 · 9 answers · asked by In Honor of Moja 4

For starters, a salad made of lettuce, radicchio, anis, thinly-sliced carrots and red onion, served with an olive oil and wine vinegar dressing.

A main course consisting of filet of salmon baked in butter with a couple of lemon slices on top, seasoned with a bit of salt, pepper and Italian parsley. Chunks of red potatoes spiced with salt, pepper, paprika, parsley and rosemary sautéed in butter. Asparagus spears salted and blanched in water and olive oil with a generous amount of chopped garlic. All served with a bottle of delicious Chardonnay.

And for dessert, blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream. Finish with coffee or tea and a liqueur of your choice.

First come, first served. Bon apetit!
