I am hosting a large New Year's Eve party which is being held in a typical ballroom. The ceiling won't allow for a balloon drop and housekeeping won't allow for a confetti throw ( cannon)! Any one else have a creative way to end the evening or to do a countdown?

she wants this to be a hip party, so my help is out. the people she is inviting are her co-workers from her job, 5 girls and one guy and one is her supervisor, so it can't be raunchy, just nice fun with good food. how long should this party be and ideas for menu are most wanted, along with what to drink and games to play, if any, it is a christmas party for young adults, so what does a mother know. o.k. kids can you help?

I am having a few friends in for supper after an afternoon of Christmas shopping. I will be serving a couple of choices of soup which I will have ready in crockpots and would like some ideas of different, tasty sandwiches to serve with the soup. I would prefer something that can be done mostly ahead of time and am considering open face, wraps, grilled, croissants, etc. I would appreciate ideas for something out of the ordinary. Thank you.

My husband and I are newly married and we are throwing our first big bash together on New Year's Eve. 20s married crowd, about 35-40 people. What would make an impression on you at a party? What types of things make a good party in your opinion? What types of things don't you like to see at a party?

I have always cook very basic "country" meals. My husband has had a heart attack and is no longer allowed to eat this way. I need meals with taste to them or he will not stick to the diet. If someone can tell me what kind of spices will make the food (chicken, fish, what ever ) taste better that would help. It also seems his sweet tooth has gone crazy since the meals are so bland so any safe dessert ideas would be appreciated also. Thanks in advance.
