I like that chocolate cake with the chocolate curls and hint of alcohol in it or the icing , I can't think of the name of that cake. I think it was a chocolate liquor or something.

Cooking with stainless steel pans ?
I'm making a recipe that calls for me to saute steaks, but I will be using stainless steel pans, when I'm used to using non-stick.. Do I have to do anything differently when I cook with stainless steel pots and pans? The recipe calls for olive oil to cook the steaks, so will that be enough to keep them from sticking?

I've never made this certain recipe that I'm going to make. I have to add cognac to a saute pan, then put it on the stove. It says to let it flame up, and the flame will just die down. Is this true? Any tips? I'm terrified that I'll catch something on fire!

I have been dating a "special someone" in my life for a few months now (we are both in our early 30's). He has been wonderful.I recently had a death in my family and suffered throug a bought of depression and anxiety. He did not freak out, and run away and he barely knew me. That is worth so much by itself. I don't know what will happen with our relationship, BUT I DO KNOW that I want to make his birthday( about two weeks from now) special to show my appreciation. Here is the problem. He is a GREAT cook!!.. I always thought I was a pretty good cook until he came along. He is like a mini-me Emeril.! I know i don't need to prepare anything super extravagent. However, I would love some ideas for a romantic dinner. AND some recipes ideas that are not TOO difficult yet very tasty!. I want to show him what a wonderful impact he has made in my life. Please help with suggestions. I am the Analytical type (so I can follow a recipe well, but unfortuately not very creative) Thank you in advance!

I don't like mixing drinks, or drinking a lot of liquid. I want something that will get me pretty tipsy, but also not get me totally smashed unless I take too much. I have a tolerably low tolerance. Oh, and I hate the taste of Rum.
Thanks much!

Looking for some basic desserts that I can make from scratch, something besides cookies. Maybe pie? Any ideas or input will be helpful. Thanks!

Me: I like to top my pancakes with hot melted butter and warm maple syrup. Sometimes I like to top them with strawberries and whipped cream.

Now, how about you?

Just looking for basic ways to prepare chicken, and what seasonings to go along with it. I baked some chicken in the oven recently(for the 1st time), with lemon pepper/olive oil/garlic salt, and DAMN was it good lol. I'm proud of myself, so I want to learn more now!! Cooking is fun. :-) Thanks

I have grown so sick and tired of every time I try a new recipe it tells me that I need yet another spice or seasoning that I need but do not have, resulting in me making a trip to the store for one lousy item. I try my best to preview new recipes so I can add necessary items to my list before I go shopping, but for some reason I always end up with a bunch of new recipes after I go shopping. Anyway, the problem is that I am living on my own for the first time, so I'm just now building up my collection of spices. I'd like to know what I should always have on hand. Also, if anyone knows a good site to get new recipes, or have some of their own they would like to share that would be great!! (That collection is just getting started too.) Thank you in advance everyone!! :)

My wife’s doctor told her that a glass of red wine after dinner before going to bed would be good for her to drink that the wine would help her to relax. We both have stressful jobs, it is hard to unwind at night and I wouldn’t mind trying some too. We bought a bottle of red wine, the name on the bottle is “Cavit” and the label also says “Pinot Noir”. It cost about $10.00, it was so bitter we could not drink it. Does anyone know of a red wine that is sweet and not real bitter that we can try? We can go up on the price if we are able to drink it, we just need something we can drink, relax and enjoy.

I cooked pork chops tonight and the recipe said to sear the pork chops and then place them in foil. What about the liver disease that manifests itself in uncooked pork, am I to feed that to my family and wish them good bye in morbid and painful death?

So, I had a bit of a rough week and would like to have something good to drink. My husband and I can't spend money on alcohol right now, so I'm stuck with what I've got.

Amaretto
Bacardi O
Some kind of weird chocolate hazelnut liqeuor
Bacardi 151
A TINY bit of Bailey's
And a can of redbull

As for non-alcoholic stuff, all I have right now is Coke, OJ, and... I think that's it. Does anyone have any ideas?

How do I fix tomato sauce that is too watery? I know that I drain the pasta long enough so its clearly the sauce that is causing the problem. If the pasta with the sauce on top sits for more then about a minute on a plate a significant pool of red watery sauce starts to pool at the bottom of the bowl...while the sauce at the top of the bowl stays thick. Anyone have any tricks ideas?
