Friends - December 2006

As i was growing up i didn't have really any positive female role models cause the women in my immediate family are old-fashioned. They never really went places, learned to drive, just enjoyed life ya know and as a result my mom has been working the same job for 30 yrs and my 35 year old sister just graduated from college and she has no kids! Their not really sociallabe people and that bothers me sometimes. I feel like i can't possibly learn any about life, women's issues, and things like that cause they don't really know anything accept shopping and cooking and i need way more than that to grow as a young black woman. I tell myself positive things everyday to boost my self-esteem and know that the Lord loves me and keeps me safe. I plan on going to college next year to better myself cause there is so much i want to know and learn about the world. I'm 25 yrs old and much of my young life got lost to the streets, depression, the wrong guy and i just want a strong positive female

I recently got out of a bad 4 year relationship. Im currently in a new one but I keep finding myself at a loss for the previous one. I know I'm over her but I still feel like there wasn't proper closure. We broke up on good terms and we were really good friends until her new boyfriend found out that I am the "ex" and made her choose between being my friend or being with him. Well she chose him and we stopped being friends. Now that I'm with someone new, I tried contacting her but she took as if I'm not over her or that I'm stalking her. Am I being stubborn or should I just let her go as a friend forever???

About 15 min. ago, I asked if I should stop beleiving in Santa. I think I will, but in a different way. My 9 year old sister is behind me playing World of Warcraft. She has stocked up on cokes, peeps, sugars, candies, etc. and plans to stay up ALL night to see if Santa is really really real. She plans to hide behind the door.. Should I break the news to her that Santa isn't actually real but he's real in a different way? I read other people's answers to other questions and I beleive she should learn by 4th or 5th grad that Santa doesn't exist... What do I do?

she is from brazil and doesnt completely understand english, she lives with me but in another room, and she speaks portuguese with her brazilian friends in front of me and it annoyed me that she wouldnt just speak english, so one time me and my friend (american) started calling her an "erfkel"(which i hope is a made up word) and laughing at her, we told her it was just a made up word but she didnt believe us, she asked one of her friends what it meant and and they looked it up in the dictionary, now she thinks i called her an impatient person with no control over anything and no will power, she is a very sensitive sweet person and she was crying last night because of it, i just feel terrible because she has always been so sweet and helpful, she has been upset lately cause she is away from home durring christmas for the first time, and i feel like such a jerk

alright so like 6 months ago my best friend started dating this girl and at first everything was the same. I paid £150 for New Year tickets for and friend and myself. She had no cash so i said i pay for them until her next payday. She has now dropped out and is ignoring my requests yo pay at least her share. I can really afford to be £150 down as im saving for a house. Am i out of order to ask for this money? As im beginning to feel like a cow for it. I have now found out shes just got back with her ex and will be seeing him new year. Is it time to ditch this friend?

i accidentally slipped out to my friend that i was going shopping for my best friend's xmas gift since she's my best friend and she's also having a party for it. I have this group of friends who never listens to me and I've been hanging with them for two years. Even if I talk to them they will change.. only after the day i talk to them then they will go back to normal. I feel like i'm just being used. I'm more like the inferior of the group, shy type, quiet, observant but no one seems to notice that our group lacks communication. I accept what they are but i cant stand waiting for them always. i've been thinking about leaving the group even if i'd be a loner. i dont really care. anyway, for more details read some things on this site...
