Friends - November 2006

I run into all these people that act like they are your best friend when they see you, or in email once a week, and but during the other 6 days of the week they are no where to be found. But on that day they see you they want to talk your ear off for an hour or two.

Ok not a real question, but...

There is a woman I see every now and then on my way to work. She's got that certain 'something' and I always try to catch her eye but she always just seems to look straight ahead, so we never make eye contact.
Anyway, I just came out of the sandwich shop near work and she was walking towards me and looked straight at me! I tried a smile but don't know if I pulled it off!
Oh well, but I'm happy now!

Have you told those you Love that you Love them recently?
sometimes we wait to late to go see those we care about or call them on the phone just to say Hi or I love you you never know when a loved one will be snatched from you. My 28 year old daughter was murdered 11 months ago and one of the things that I hold in my heart is that even though we sure had our ups and downs the day she died I'd decided to give her an early Christmas gift a new winter coat I was mad at her on Monday as we were arguing about her BF and on Tuesday i decided to go see her and give her the coat she loved it kissed me said I love you and 8 1/2 hours later her BF killed her If I hadn't decided to go see her and the last words we'd had would have been in anger I would not have been able to survive this if you love someone tell them today call your parents, your kids, your grandparents, your friends, whoever don't wait until it may be too late God Bless You All

I'm Brazilan (as one can see) living in Brazil and I tell you that it is very rare finding here around people of different gender which are close friends.

In your culture (European, first world, Christian, modern days) today, is that common/possible?

Let me tell you that here in Br we, generally speaking, see a man (when he has girl close friends) as to be gay, you know. That's too bad, I know that! Or when there is a case such this, one is interested in the other lovingly...

How is it in yours?

I had a really good friend once, we used to do everything together,we could tell each other anything & know if we dident want anyone to know something we had told each other it wouldent go any further, that was untill my daughter came along. To cut along story short, my daughter was acussed of stealing money from my friend & i ended up beliving my daughter when she promised that she would never do that to my friend, after all my daughter new my friend since she was about 2, shes now 25. I ended up saying alot of nasty things to my friend & telling her boyfriend alot of things about her that i promised that i would never tell, they all most never got married because of me .After all this took place & my friend stoped talking to me ,I found out the hard way that my daughter lied she was going through a bad patch with drugs & gambling which i never new at the time. I really feel so bad about not beliving my friend but how could a mother not belive her child as she never troubled me b4..

MY son loves science but i just don't know if what to do, I tell him not to worry so much at this age,(10) that he is too young to worry about earthquakes, tsunamies,hurricanes,and dieing at 21. Somtimes,he can't sleep at night and there in the day he worries a lot and asks 1000 quetions to our family.
we love the fact that he loves science, we also know that the teacher is a science teacher and that is her jub to teach him about science, but to me i just don't want my son to always be scared that somthing is going to happen where we live.IDK, any advice??

I am only 22yrs old and in the US Air Force and have been recently diagnosed with cancer of the brain and spinal cord. Apparently it is bad enough that I have to have an operation to have two of them removed from the bottom of my brain stem where it meets my spinal cord. I am also staioned in Okinawa, Japan so I am a very long ways from my home and family and I am more terrified than I have ever been. The doctors have discussed sending me to San Antonio, Texas for the operation because it is to delicate for then to want to do here. I am frightened, Is there anyone out there maybe even any cancer survivors who can offer any words of encouragement

my best friend and husband have 2 small children 4and 6.She came to mr and toldme he is having an affair with a 13 yo he is 33. He told her if she tells anyone he will takes the kids off her and dissappear with them and the girl. She also told me that he does not love the kids because they are apart of her. I am becoming confused by my friends actions, she constantly tells me i'm her best mate, and that she wouldn't know what to do without me, however when it comes to spending any sort of social time with her, she wants to be part of a bigger crowd and will happily ignore for hours, i really want say she's my best mate too, and she has helped me through alot, but i sometimes feel i'm being used, so she knows she has someone to fall back on if all else goes wrong, i'll still be there.
any serious ideas on what i could do?
