You don't "have" to be thankful, but you'll be much happier if you can find something to be thankful for. We survive because we want to, and being happy relies on being thankful for many things. They may be little things, but the more you can find to be thankful for, the more positive you will feel, and it will bring only more and more positive things into your life. Try to be thankful for something!

You don't HAVE to be thankful but you should be. Do you have a home, food, clothes? If you do,and I think you do, you should be thankful that you're not living outside somewhere, in the cold, with nothing to eat. Start thinking of others and how to help them and you will find plenty to be thankful for. You'll also feel a lot better about yourself and your life. And before you say "Yeah right!!", try it. If it doesn't make you feel good to make someone else feel good, go back to be depressed all the time and feeling sorry for yourself. I'm sure that is such a fun way to spend your time. It may be easier to wallow in self pity, but if you make a diference in someone's life you will wnat to do it again and again adn you will forget all about your own problems. Think about it. I think it's important to look around at your life and to be aware that there are others who do not have as good a life as you may. Perhaps you don't have a good life. But t here are people dying of horrible diseases, living in the streets, suffering from addictions or mental health issues, family members dying etc. If you don't have huge issues like that in your life you should be thankful. I know a saying that is "There but for the grace of God go yu or I" meaing it could just as easily be you or I in a horrible life circumstance, so in order to appreciate your life, you need to really think about your life.

You don't HAVE to....but think about this. Are there not things in your life that you are thankful for? Is your life so obsolete that there is nothing that you can think of that makes your life complete? Surely there is something!! To each his own, I suppose. For me, I am thankful just to be able to get up and out of bed every day. That means that I have one more day to spend with my kids and loved ones.

If you can walk, talk, see this screen, have reasonable good health, and good friends and family, then you have alot to be thankful for. You could have been in the gutter, on drugs, be homeless, have cancer or AIDS. Think about that.
