Recently a number of people here were screaming for the head of NASA scientist Dr. James Hansen for his position and research on climate change. Same saying he should be arrested.

Turns out the White House's chief science adviser, John Marburger, cut out two vital sections ("Climate Change is a Public Health Concern" and "Climate Change Vulnerability") from a taxpayer-supported environmental report being presented before congress. This cut the report in half.

How come these folks aren't calling for Marburger's arrest, or at the very least, his firing?

More CO2 and heat will likely increase crop production.

More heat will cause more evaporation increasing water vapor in the air and increasing rain fall possibly increasing crop production.

Will Global Warming be the hope of mankind?

The IPCC projects that sea levels will rise by 7 to 23 inches during the 21st century, but this estimate assumes no acceleration of ice flow in Greenland or Antarctica and does not fully account for some positive feedback processes, such as the release of additional CO2 from tundra soils as the planet warms.

A new study published in Science on January 19, 2007 projects that sea levels will rise by 20 to 55 inches this century based on recent observations. This study was published after the deadline for consideration by the IPCC.

"A rise of over 1 m by 2100 for strong warming scenarios cannot be ruled out...on the other hand, very low sea-level rise values as reported in the IPCC TAR now appear rather implausible in the light of the observational data."

Do you think - as several of us have been saying - that the IPCC sea level rise projections are too conservative?

"The White House severely edited congressional testimony given Tuesday by the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on the impact of climate change on health, removing specific scientific references to potential health risks, according to two sources familiar with the documents.

Dr. Julie Gerberding, director of the Atlanta-based CDC, the government's premier disease monitoring agency, told a Senate hearing that climate change "is anticipated to have a broad range of impacts on the health of Americans."

But her prepared testimony was devoted almost entirely to the CDC's preparation, with few details on what effects climate change could have on the spread of disease. Only during questioning did she describe some specific diseases that likely would be affected, again without elaboration."

Why do you think the White House is trying to edit global climate change science again?

This is my most major object to the theory. Everything -- floods, extinction, fires, war, diseases; all attributable to global warming. Or so the proponents say. You would think this never happened prior to global warming. It did happen prior to global warming! Ice Ages, floods, wars and extinction are not new! They happened before, for varying reasons, but now scientists just blame all the worlds problems on it. I'm sure the conservatives see right through this, but environmentalists don't. Why can't they look at history and the various causes of things instead of blaming one thing as the root cause of all evil?

just bare with me

are we being sucked towards the sun because we are burning all these tons of oil and we have a hole in our ozone

so it just sucks us towards the sun slowly

I mean I know sure u might see that the distance from us and the sun is measured BUT HOW ACCURATE can it be...it's like millions of miles away and REALLY how long would it take us to realize that we are being pulled towards the sun?

hmm?

WHAT IF this is the true story!??!?

yeahhhh.

think about it.

The temperature has only increased one degree on average in the last one hundred years and not at all in the last fifty years. One degree is not enough to cause these super fires. Besides, warmer doesn't instantly mean drier. Al Gore's two computer simulations predicted that this area would be either a flood zone or a desert in the future. Isn't that a bit extreme? If they were accurate, wouldn't the two computer simulations came to closer conclusions? Back to my point though, it is the environmentalist policies, which keeps the government from clearing dense underbrush from state forest and public citizens from clearing dense underbrush on their private property that has caused these fires. This would normally occur through natural forest fires, but since we fight these fires, the forest have built up layer on top of layer of fuel to feed these fires. Am I the only one that thinks we should stop instantly believing outlandish environmentalist claims pushed by the media?

While global warming is getting much of the news, I was wondering if the real disaster manking is facing is realy oxygen depletion?
When I went to grade school I was taught that air was 20% O2, then in college it was 18%, now I have heard 16%. If these are true and if humans pass out at levels under 14% it would seem we don't have as long to correct our CO2 emissions before civilization will fall.
So what do you think will cause civilizations fall, global warming, O2 depletion, some other man made disaster or some natural disaster?
