Global Warming is a huge issue. People who take it lightly obviously do not read scientific journals or understand the concept of greenhouse gases. Our emissions of greenhouse gases, as a society, has skyrocketed tremendously. It is proven that these gases lock in heat and cause increases in the earth's temperature. Just because catastrophic events do not happen overnight does NOT mean global warming is not happening. It is very real and very well documented.

Here is truth about global warming:
Global warming is one-half of the climatic cycle of warming and cooling.
The earth's mean temperature cycles around the freezing point of water.
This is a completely natural phenomenon which has been going on since there has been water on this planet. It is driven by the sun.
Our planet is currently emerging from a 'mini ice age', so is
becoming warmer and may return to the point at which Greenland is again usable as farmland (as it has been in recorded history).
As the polar ice caps decrease, the amount of fresh water mixing with oceanic water will slow and perhaps stop the thermohaline cycle (the oceanic heat 'conveyor' which, among other things, keeps the U.S. east coast warm).
When this cycle slows/stops, the planet will cool again and begin to enter another ice age.
It's been happening for millions of years.
The worrisome and brutal predictions of drastic climate effects are based on computer models, NOT CLIMATE HISTORY.
As you probably know, computer models are not the most reliable of sources, especially when used to 'predict' chaotic systems such as weather.
Global warming/cooling, AKA 'climate change':
Humans did not cause it.
Humans cannot stop it.

Sea levels rising, species extinction, extreme climate changes which will affect us all one way or another and more so for future generations then yes it is a big issue, can we do anything about it??
some think we can reverse this or slow it down, but some think that this is just natural phenomena and that the earth will just keep on warming up no matter what we do, and that our presence is of no significance whatsoever, the earth will undergo changes as it has done before we came along and long after we have gone, personally I think we are certainly speeding things up for sure, but most ignore this because it does not affect them directly (yet) and think selfishly about the future in terms of " it won't happen in my lifetime" etc....
But in answer to your question then I say TRUE!!!

It is fact quite TRUE. They everyone except Bush and his cronies is aware of. After nearly 200 years of increases in burning fossil fuels and destroying the trees that absorb CO2 the limit of tolerance has passed. The earth is not reacting with serious negative results
The changes are apparent: weather, melting glaciers, receding ice caps, warming oceans. The important results are agricultural. Damage to crops means an INCREASE of starvation. Weather changes mean droughts, water shortage and, as a result of global warming, rising ocean levels. Animals are being affect - they can't protect themselves from the changing environment as humans can - to a limit. Something has to be done but those in power insist it should be done by someone else. Time has run out. It is now necessary for individual people to make their displeasure known to the Governments that are allowing this destruction to continue and take matters into hand and do something themselves. The cutting of rain forests in Brazin and cutting of any forest anywhere is a major contribution to the inability of the natural world to heal itself.

No doubt Global warming is a very big issue and we all are responsible for generating this.Warming is due mainly to our indiscriminate deforestation and production of Carbon Dioxide by burning fossil fuels .The Carbon Dioxide so produced forms a blanket at upper statra and reflects back again the heat emitted by the earth . Effect is the increase global temperature and thereby increase in sea - water level which will submerge some of the islands in another 10 years time ,if precautions are not taken now.

Global warming is the single greatest issue that we face today. For those of you that were around in the 1970's like myself. The threat back then was global cooling. Unfortunately the science wasn't very good and few people actually believed it.
Today, we have much better equipment to work with and our data set is much much larger. Climate prediction models are accurate out to several months. After that the number of imponderables makes prediction sort of hard to do. That doesn't mean its impossible. It just means that the number of variables is to great to calculate accurately.
There are better forcast models available, but they run on massive super computers which we all know are very expensive.
So, all those forcast models show one thing. The temperature is rising and the ice is melting. The researchers on the ground in several location are reporting that the models are not exactly accurate because the polar ice is melting much faster than the models predicted.
Our mission, should be that of reducing and eliminating all green house gas emmisions made by humans. We don't need to run our cars on gasoline. They can run on hydrogen with only minor modifications and those changes greatly increase engine efficiency.
Hydrogen is easy to extract from water. All we have to do is build several large solar power plants in places like death valley or several locations in Nevada and Arizona. Those plants can put almost all of their power output into hydrogen production. The hydrogen is sold for fuel and the plants are paid for in a only a few years. After that the cost of production goes down to almost zero because solar energy is free.
Getting water to the facilities is easy. Just build a pipeline from the ocean to the plant. Its easy! We just have to be willing to force the changes through a congress thats controlled by big oil and thats both sides of the isle people!
I could go on and on about why we have to make this change. You will see a few people screaming about greater energy input than output, but they are generally people that support oil companies or farm subsidies.

definitely false. and for all those people who said true should move to china or India and start setting up strict laws on recycling and pollution output. no matter what we do there are still going to be flooding, droughts, hurricanes, cooling and warming. Oh yea where are all of those hurricanes that were suppose to devastate the eastern sea board? well it has not happened but that is because of global warming. what a joke.

I think that Global Warming is misunderstood, and I believe that there is validity to a Global Climate Change, and we should watch our pollution, but I don't think we are the direct result. If it was true, we could be dead already because of the amount of harmful agents that occur outside of human influence that is said to contribute to global warming.

True, and if you look around you, millions of cars are emitting carbon etc. into the atmosphere causing a green house effect. I don't know why unqualified ppl should tell us that this not happening and that scientists and experts in this field are wrong. What is their motive ? Ppl in authority had prior warnings of 9/11, pearl harbor and you know what happened, I think they should be charged with negligence and branded as traitors.

True, but many people are just too blind or ignorant to see what is happening right before their eyes. And God forbid, they might have to give up their luxurious life styles, and fancy gas guzzling cars. You can bet those are the people who think global warming is not real. "If it doesn't affect me in my lifetime why should I worry about it", is the mentality behind that one." Kind of like who gives a damn about our future generations. It makes me sick.
