Since 1998 was the warmest year on record, are temperatures now starting to cool down?

With 10 years of increasing emissions of green house gasses, why aren't the years in the 21 century even warmer than the 1990's?

Will the years ahead be warmer or colder? Please show your work to how you came to your answer.

------------------

"2007 is looking as though it will be the second warmest behind 1998," said Phil Jones, head of the Climatic Research Unit at Britain's University of East Anglia, which provides data to the U.N.'s International Meteorological Organization.

Here are my questions:
1. Which party do you belong to?

2. Do you realize that Global Warming is a fact and is happening?

3. If you do not think that Global Warming is real, then how do you explain the following:
a. melting Arctic
b. delayed cold weather in New England (it was early November and we were still in t-shirt weather)
c. extended droughts in the Southeast states
d. extended droughts in the Southwest states
e. the California wild fires (realizing, of course, that they were started by a child, but they wouldn't have been that bad had the weather pattern been normal, and not as dry as it was)

4. If you are Republican/Conservative and do not believe in Global Warming, then what about God giving us this planet to be good stewards? What does "good steward" mean to you if not keeping the planet from getting over polluted?

Thanks for your time!

Since retiring from the Weather Channel, John Coleman, an internationally recognized meteorologist, has made it his mission to bring sanity back into the global warming debate. He says the foundation upon which these theories have been built are based on flawed science driven by scientists who owe their personal livelihood to grant money that MUST support global warming...or get pulled.

If you would like to see the most recent article, you can find it at: http://icecap.us.

How many more such testimonials do you need to see before you begin to at least consider the possibility that global warming, if it exists, is nothing more than a natural climate change process?

Here is what he said:

John Coleman wrote an article published at ICECAP Wednesday that should certainly garner attention from press members -- assuming journalism hasn't been completely replaced by propagandist activism, that is.

It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create in [sic] allusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the "research" to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus.

The scam is over, the people are not idiots falling for big political names and Government paid scientists creating a tax base out of thin air for themselves and partners.

Here is a couple of graphs from NOAA that show that that the Earth's warming tracks almost EXACTLY to the solar activity.

This graph shows land temperatures track solar cycle length almost point to point.
http://www.oar.noaa.gov/spotlite/archive/images/sunclimate_3a.gif

and this chart shows that the sea surface temperatures track sunspots.

While at the same time CO2 and other green house gasses are increasing exponentially and the temperatures haven't been any warmer since 1998! If man made green house gases were the cause for global warming, how come we aren't getting warmer each and every year?

Isn’t this very strong evidence that it is the sun that causes warming and not man?

Scientists agree that one volcanic eruption emitts as much greenhouse gas as the entire industrial age. Ice core samples have shown that there have been many periods like what were experiencing now, throughout history. Do you really think that we humans are capable of inflicting the type of damage to the planet that the liberals claim? Personally, I think its a ploy by the american communist party to convince people to follow them.

I'm curious as to why there's such a debate surrounding the topic. Please just answer yes or no, and what evidence it was that made you believe it is happening, or disagree with the theory.

Anything against global climate change?
Tell me why global warming is NOT real.
Thanks

Stanford University’s Global Climate and Energy Project seeks new solutions to what they describe as one of the grand challenges of this century: supplying energy to meet the changing needs of a growing world population in a way that protects the environment.

Among GCEP's specific goals:

1. Identify promising research opportunities for low-emissions, high-efficiency energy technologies.

2. Identify barriers to the large-scale application of these new technologies.

3. Conduct fundamental research into technologies that will help to overcome these barriers and provide the basis for large-scale applications.

4. Share research results with a wide audience, including the science and engineering community, media, business, governments, and potential end-users.

The first link is a statement by Project Director Franklin Orr Jr. that is worthy of your time, I believe.

The founder of MTV says that it's not. So does my dog. That makes it 2 against 1, therefore global warming is not a myth!

Seriously though, some random person who doesn't know anything about climate science goes off on an insane and paranoid rant about how it's all a big conspiracy, and we have to hear about it here half a dozen times?

Is this just another sign that AGW doubters have so little evidence to support their position? They all have to make sure everyone knows that some random guy with a TV weather station thinks it's a conspiracy? You can't come up with anything better than that?

How about Ted Turner - he's got a TV station, does anyone care what he thinks about global warming? Why can't these AGW doubters make a scientific argument?

so many of you guys claim that its just a scam or a way to make people live in fear but technically so does religion. supposedly if we tell people long enough that global warming is real then they'll believe it right?(well actually it wont be believing, it would be a realization) and chances are that's what happened with religion.

they told people long enough to believe in god and whatnot and they believed it.

how can a person believe in something like god which has not been proven to exist but yet they will deny the existence of global warming which has been proven to exist?

One you have no proof of at all whatsoever. and global warming has been proven to exist. so why do you blindly accept one and blindly deny another?

Cause I know I am! He has no idea what he is talking about. The Earth goes through a cycle. Now everything is getting warmer. In thousands of years, the world will freeze over and there will be another Ice Age. Thousands of years after that, the world will be like this again. Shut up, Al Gore! Go find manbearpig!

I consistently hear AGW supporters claim "consensus" as if it is scientific proof. But how can any individual call the science "beyond discussion" when many of the AGW claims have been proven wrong.
In 2001, the IPCC's report used "Hockey Stick" as proof man was the problem. However, this evidence was completely debunked. A main piece of evidence which is completely disproved does not lend itself to a science that is already "solved".
In the USA, 1998 was proclaimed as the hottest year in history by NASA and James Hansen. After scientist studied the data, it was found an error existed in NASA's calculations and 1934 was the hottest year. Again, the science is not past discussion.
Another example, in Al Gore's movie, he said, "Do these graphs fit together?" He then went on to explain that the data showed CO2 drives temperature. Again, scientist studying the data discovered that CO2 lagged temp by about 800 years.
Why do people claim the science is settled, when obviously, it is not?

I want to know how I can help fix and repair the world from global warming so a catastrophe won't happen. Can you please give me some ideas on how to save the world and how kids can help save the world too? Thank you so much

What are the goals that we need to reach when we can say that man no longer is having any effect on the climate?

If co2 gets back to 200ppm, do we then say that our work is done, man no longer has any effect on the climate?

What's the goal?

How do you know for sure?

Why continue to study the problem if we know there's no doubt that man is the cause? What do we expect to prove by spending more money? That man is really, really the cause?

Wouldn't it be better if the sharp minds who are doing the research into global warming were in the private sector looking for solutions?

Could these scientist be working on the next generation hybrid car, or new fuel cell technology, or renewable energy instead of finding more ways to blame man for a problem?

When the sun is active there is an increase in the suns magnetic field, electrically charged particles (solar wind), energy in the ultra violet spectrum can increase by 100%, and the energy in other spectrums will increase slightly. During The Little Ice Age, the sun entered a period of little or no solar activity called the Maunder Minimum. It was still shining brightly, but there were hardly any solar flares. The decreased solar wind allows more cosmic rays from outside the solar system to enter the atmosphere. Some scientists believe these cosmic rays help to seed clouds. We don't have any pictures from the Little Ice Age, but there are many paintings from artists of that era. Here are some links to landscape paintings, notice that the skies are overcast in most of the paintings:
