To mysterian, can you name a reputable scientist who disagrees with global warming? Those scientists didn't preform any testing, the list has never been revised since it was created and no verification of names was actually performed. Nice Try.... even wikipedia knows better than you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oregon_Petition
It is also hard for me to understand why some people are in such denial of the fact, but its most likely due to the fact that humans don't want to claim responsibility or change the ways they live. Belief in god is typically something that they have been told since birth, while global warming isn't -- if the news isn't typically good (which it isn't) most people simply don't want to believe it. They choose to ignore the facts.
Global warming has been documented. There is little dispute among scientists. It is the media and politicians who say that it isn't true.

I am glad to see all this conversation about global warming. How ever i don't think it is productive to use ones belief or dis belief in religion to try to make the point. Any one who dose not believe in global warming simply will not unless or until it affect,s them personally.
Belief is a matter of conditioning and life experience. Not many people believed the existence of the Aid,e virus until millions were infected and it could no longer be denied. It is the same here when it is to late then every one will be a believer.
Hopefully it wont come to that.

Belief in a God and proof of global warming are two different things. Global warming results from negligence, and maybe indifference. It can be scientifically proven and is experienced and felt by all humankind. But belief in a God unfortunately cannot be proven scientifically, though it can be experienced and felt by humankind. It only takes 'faith' for a person to believe in God. It cannot be forced. You don't need 'faith' to believe in global warming. It's there, whether you like it or not.

Let me ask you a question instead. It is currently about -60 degrees farenheit in the south pole, which is spring time down there. Our subarctic regions on earth remain well below zero year round. Last I heard, water freezes at 32 degrees above zero. So, where and how is all of this melting happening? And by the way, a few thousand years ago we were in a mini ice age - why, not because of humans, the climate just changed. The climate is bigger than us, and it is cyclical! It changes. It will warm up or cool down for reasons we don't understand.
And yes, I believe in God. I see all the "proof" I need everyday.

If you don't believe in global warming, then you don't have to take responsibility for it; you just chalk it up to a natural change. If you believe in God, then you have back up to protect you if screw up...so you don't have to think it through carefully and be responsible.
Believing in God can give me the hope humanity will take the higher path and be responsible stewards of the earth. Otherwise, people are scary. God gives me the illusion people may be capable of more.

"Global Warming" has not been proven. Ask meterologist Willam Gray.
While the North Pole ice might be melting, the ice at the South Pole (where the "ozone hole" is supposed to be) is actually growing.
It's call nature, and the planet evolves in natural cycles. If it was getting colder, would people say we are going to have another ice age? Maybe, in a few million or billion years.
Man cannot generate enough heat, CO2, or other environmental issues in even the largest city in the US to change the temperature of the ocean thousands of miles away by even 1 degree. As William Gray says, don't give yourselves that much credit.

DATA.
The data since 1998 show a COOLING or STATIC global temperature. Oh, I know that's heresy, and easily explained because ALL the models show...oh wait, they don't but really, trust us, it's GONNA happen....THE END IS NEAR!
However, my prayers are answered on a more regular basis than any "modeled" climate outcome matches reality!

You assume AGW antagonists believe in a higher power or a god. Just as likely then your assumption AGW as fact will be incorrect

Pretty simple explanation - some people are illogical, and believe what they want to believe regardless of scientific evidence.
There is zero proof that a god exists, but people believe there is one because it allows them to make sense of life. They believe because they want to believe.
There is tons of evidence that humans are the primary cause of the current global warming, but people don't want to believe it's true because it would be very inconvenient. They deny because they don't want to believe.

The main difference is that people who believe in god don't write laws to make you comply to their beliefs.
People who believe in global warming think they are right for pressing their morality on others.
