After all this talk lately I was curious so I got an estimate for my house and the price was (brace yourself)

$108,000!!!!

That is for a 1800sqft home with 100amp service (12KW).

No wonder all those coal plants exist. Now I know why those P--B.S. shows don't mention the costs of going green.

In other words...is it corn? I realize Ethanol is corn based, how is bio diesel different from Ethanol? How much of bio diesel comes from used cooking oil? Or is it mostly bio mass food...that is corn, sugar beets, etc? I am not in favor of the corn subsidies and Ethanol being what the government proposes as the solution to energy problems, but how is bio diesel different or the same in terms of costs to land use, efficiency of what is produced, etc? Ethanol is rather inneficient, no? So what of the production for bio diesel? Is it coming from more energy efficent sources, or is it mostly corn? Thanks.

I understand we use coal to burn for electricity, but if we did more coal burning and completely wiped out gasoline emissions, would that be better? The oil companies would still have a business, just not in cars.

Not saying that I disagree with the concept of global warming but: If the Earth, this force that we have been living on has been around for millions and millions of years, is it logical to believe that we can destroy it in just about 200 years? Just wondering. I know I'm going to get stupid responses but just a few intelligent ones too please.

WE NEED TO SWICH TO ELECTIRICITY, NOT GAS IN CARS
anyone agree?
i mean look at the facts, gas is overpriced right now, and electricty is much cheaper(hybrids).
yet i know it is not that simple. milliuons of people have cars and it would be hard for them ro leave there cars, but being rational, i think that we should slowly move into electric cars or even hybrids. is this absurd or a good idea???

even if it was a good idea, the gas companies would freak!!! haha

Could someone help me to interpret this graph here
http://www.ccs.neu.edu/home/gene/peakoil/co2-400k-years.gif

It appears that quite frequently(specifically at the 325,000, 135,000, and 20,000) the CO2 line rises after the temperature rises? By this I mean, at the points mentioned above, the temperature rises and then there is space to the right between the temp line and CO2 line? Does this mean that there is no correlation between temp rising and CO2?

Also at the right end of the graph it shows the highest concentration of CO2 on the whole graph but not the highest temperature. Does this also mean there is no correlation between the two variables?

The Clubs are open 6 days a week. there are about 10 bottle fridges per club. They would switch off at about 4am and switch back on about 2pm to chill down for a 5pm opening. Is it better to have them warming up and chilling down or maintaining a constant temperature.

Septic tanks can generate methane. Can they also create hydrogen? Bacteria , as well as algae, creates hydrogen, right? Maybe we could turn human waste into fuel? Have large community collection tanks, and maybe add somthing to this like a certain temp, to aid in the process? Any ideas on this one?

Recently an ancient lake in darfur in part of what is now the saharah desert was discovered. They say it was roughly the size of lake Erie and that roughly 5,000 years ago there were multiple lakes and rivers in that region and that the landscape was much different including lush vegitation, wildlife as well as human settlements. At another dried up lake they discovered in that same region they found tools and other items belonging to humans living in that area. So what happened? how did a lush area with lots of life and water turn into the Saharah? Were the humans in that area driving suv's and not recycling? And thus whamo global warming and hello Saharah? Or is it that the earth changes regardless. It is what it does. So don't feel guilty that you fly airplanes and smoke cigars. We are not to blame. Light up and enjoy the ride and when the earth decides to remodel don't blame G.W. .

I've seen a dozen or more older gas stations with portable trailers semi-permanently installed, with power hard-wired. It sounds like some sort of pump or fan is running insided. These have been at both "open" and abandoned gas stations. I haven't seen them anywhere else. There is a 10' tall 5" pvc pipe "smoke stack" coming out the top. There are no markings on any of these trailers. Is this some kind of environmental remediation? Should we be worried about fumes, etc.?

I know there are studies on converting farm waste to methane to electricity. What about my septic tank? Is there a way I can generate electricity as a biproduct of the processes there? Any reference to published studies would be welcomed!
