Reduce gasoline consumption: For every gallon of gasoline burned, about 20 pounds of carbon dioxide enter the atmosphere. So: bike, walk, take public transportation, or carpool whenever possible.
Unplug and strip: Many electronic devices draw power whenever they are plugged into an outlet, even when they are turned off or are fully charged. These energy hogs include adapters that come with rechargeable battery-powered cordless phones, cell phones, power tools, and digital cameras. Electronics that are on standby, such as TVs, cable boxes, and computer monitors, also waste energy. The solution? Unplug these devices and plug them into a power strip. Turn off the strip when these devices are not in use (the strip doesn't draw power).
Solarize your cookouts: Make your cookouts solar events by switching to solar ovens. Build your own solar oven or buy one ready-made.
Swap Bulbs: Replace incandescent bulbs with energy efficient compact fluorescents, which are widely available in many sizes and shapes. Only 10% of the energy consumed by incandescent bulbs is released as light; 90% is heat. Fluorescents cost more initially, but they last up to 12 times longer and reduce electric costs.
Drink shade-grown coffee: Sun-grown coffee is produced in areas of devastated rainforest, while shade-grown varieties help preserve the rainforest, reduce the need for pesticides, and are ultimately beneficial for the planet.
Patronize "green hotels": When you travel, stay at green hotels where the owners have programs that save energy and water and reduce solid waste.
Audit your home: Get a free energy audit on your home from your gas and/or electric utility and then institute their recommendations.
Eat more vegetables, less meat: The average American diet causes the release of an extra 1.5 tons of greenhouse gases per year compared with a strict plant-based diet. Reducing your meat and dairy intake by half can make a big difference.
Make saving energy a family affair: Assign each person an energy-saving task. For example, one child can gather vegetable scraps for the compost; another can turn off lights and power strips when they are not in use; and you can use cold water for the wash and hang out laundry to dry.
Re-energize your office: Help institute energy- (and money-) saving steps: use ceramic cups instead of disposable ones; encourage double-sided copying; "unplug and strip" start a carpool; turn down the lights.

A quarter of the arctic melts every summer. Then it freezes again every winter.

But I don't worry anyway because there have been warm periods in the past that were so warm that there was never any ice at either pole even in winter, and Earth and the life on it was just fine. This was millions of years ago, and it happened more than once. It is not the big end of the world problem that some people are trying to say it is. Really.

you ask how you should reduce global warming?

well since global warming and cooling are NATURAL processes, you, as a human being, can't do jack

yeah ice is melting, but how did the ice get there?
the Little Ice Age most likely. which would suggest that there was no ice there before.

If anyone wants to debate on this subject, I'm open too.

these are a few things which we can do to reduce global waming:
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Use Less Heat and Air Conditioning
Drive Less and Drive Smart--Less driving means fewer emissions. Besides saving gasoline, walking and biking are great forms of exercise. Explore your community’s mass transit system, and check out options for carpooling to work or school.

When you do drive, make sure your car is running efficiently. For example, keeping your tires properly inflated can improve your gas mileage by more than 3 percent. Every gallon of gas you save not only helps your budget, it also keeps 20 pounds of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.

Global warming is a man made disaster..it has to be reduced only by us...everyone one of us need to contribute towards it..

Replace 5 commonly used light bulbs with low energy spiral (CFL) bulbs.
Set a computer and monitor to "power down" when not in use.
Use less hot water by installing a low flow shower head and washing clothes in cold or warm water.
Purchase ten percent of your electricity from a green power source such as wind, solar or geothermal.
Adjusting your thermostat two degrees cooler in the winter can save more than 5% on energy bills, and setting your thermostat two degrees warmer in summer can save 10% or more. Alternatively, you can use a programmable thermostat to adjust temperatures by four degrees automatically while you are at work and sleeping.
Purchase an energy-saving washing machine or refrigerator that has earned the government's “Energy Star” label.
Turn your water heater thermostat down to 120 degrees.
Keep your car off the road to and from work one day per week by teleworking, carpooling, riding a bike, or using public transportation (Savings based on a 10 mile trip to/from work).
Use a car that gets 10 miles more per gallon than what you currently drive.
Keep your tires properly inflated, improving fuel economy up to 3%.
Eliminate one trip by car per week by stringing errands together (savings based on a 5 mile trip to the store).
Plant six trees.

Jazzy B. has solved half, the other half is institutional toxicity, as per Kyoto protocol lax. The USA has to start up global warming work's now, or we all roast, starve, or freeze. America is the future of planetary survival, if it choose's to save itself from it's toxic deadend, the planet will survive, if it goe's on as is, the beautiful blue planet will follow. Soon global warming will hurt everyone in America, Toxic planet is America's legacy, thank's primarily to Dubya. Reduceing warming will save humanity.

global warming cannot be stopped but we can stop helping it becoming faster, and being friendlier to out Environment cannot be bad

if you do any cleaning up leave signs behind saying who cleaned, why and ask people not to start dumping rubbish again ,leave a hole or bins ,in case people come with trash ,

we have done a lot of comunity cleaning and if you dont leave alternatives or try to work on peoples guilt feelings (some people actually have those ,but not many)
than your efforts are a waste of time.

POSITIVE ACTIONS
if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to slowdown the destructive processes

reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.

the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.

the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia

the protection of existing forrests.

stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.

education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.
