I keep seeing Phil getting his head blown off (and crushed) all over tv. It was on the local news in the morning and probably in the evening too. What is the point of that? Do people not know that kids might be watching tv at 9am? They certainly do not show people getting shot in real life on the news or talk shows, yet it is acceptable when it is a fictional thug mobster? It is still graphic. They can talk about him getting whacked and the ending without actually showing him getting a bullet put in his brain.

someone wrote today; "The finale displayed their lives continuing, for better and worse, unaffected by the fact that the series is done. The implication was, they will go on as usual. We just won't be able to watch."

First of all I have an issue with the continuity of this season-Tony is on top of the world to begin the season, then he is a gambler and looses everything, then he is hated by his friends, then loved again and the degenerate gambling just simply disappears. Episode to episode the strings just were never tied together. We focused on AJ all season long-a plot that I think should have been secondary to the main storyline-tension between NY and NJ. On that note, Phil Leotardo should never have been killed-he was on top of the world, controling all of NY and NJ, almost unlimited power, and "loyalty" of his soldiers-when did they suddenly have a change of heart? The NY crew had no reason to let Phil get killed, he was doing more for them then any other NY mob boss. Horrible writing and a cliff hanger ending-sure we get to see what Tony sees, but I agree with most people, Chase is a genius-not in a writing, but in marketing. Sopranos the movie, 8 years of loyalty for a sub par ending-genius.

What did you think of the ending? to me it pissed me off because it looked like him and his family was about to get it but then it just cut out. Im pissed but also glad nothing happened to them. What you think? How would you have ended it.

What a jerk! That had to be the worst ending ever for a popular TV series.

Wikipedia says:
Tony comes out of hiding to spend time with his family in a restaurant in the last few minutes of the final episode. Several suspicious characters enter and Meadow has trouble parking her car. In the east coast HBO feed, just as Meadow enters the restaurant, Tony looks up and the screen cuts to black for a time before the credits are shown. In the west coast HBO feed, the final shot is of Meadow entering the restaurant before the credits are shown.
Can anyone in the west coast confirm that? Did he die in the east coast and not in the west?
I was so disappointed with this episode. it was so boring and so much more could have been done with it

The cat represented the reincarnation of Adriana. The cat was blond, petite and keep staring at Chistophers picture..
What do you think?
With that note I thought the show was horrible!!! I feel they could have done so much more with it....
The show was boring and I was just so disappointed.

Last night's finale was a total bust; a boring ending to a disappointing season.

The only redeeming moment was when Phil got whacked.

If Tony was killed at the end of the final episode, I think it was Paulie walnuts- mabey he was off camera, but he wanted to kill Tony for years..

The ability of Chase have an open ending like that gives a discussion to new ideas. My intial reaction was anger that there was no bow tie ending it made me furious. But to come on this site and see other peoples enteruptations and theories made me realize this is a good ending because it has people talking and thinking. If your angry at there being no definitive end than you are need to be able to think foryourself or listen to other ideas. The ending got everyone to feel something whether it was good or bad everyone felt something intese feelings at the end. Even if you hated the ending you still loved the show because it made you feel something so passionately whether it was disgust or not. Anyhting that can make you feel that disgust was obviously something you really liked and for that I am not angry with the finale. You can't put a Bow Tie on a serious that was already wearing a tuxedo!

I get the ending about Tony getting wacked... (btw, those onion rings are heavenly) don't have to graduate from Rutgers to figure that out.

but what was the deal with the cat, it staring at the the picture and just the cat in general... maybe i'm just a dog person and I dont get cats. (except maybe b. klibin)
