...(And...what was your favorite song by them...I'll give you a hint...you could take the "long" version of their name, and make a 3-letter anacronym out of it...and it starts with one of the first 3 letters of the alphabet...and one of their hit songs invoked images of buildings being flattened by something large and angry)

I'm also curious as to what bands some of the MCR fans here were listening to before discovering them. And what attracted you to their music.
Don't go getting all EMOtional on me now, because I am truly interested.
Based on some of the immature angry, and defensive replies I've seen on behalf of many MCR fans in this section, I'm under the impression that many rock&popper's feel you're all a bunch of spoiled, frustrated brainwashed teenagers.
But I'd never think such a thing. I feel you're all just terribly misunderstood. That's just the sort of image many of you seem to convey throughout this community via your comments in this forum. Possibly it's just a few bad apples spoiling the whole bunch?
What are you thoughts?

This is funny, Yahoo wanted to post this in 'Society & Culture > Cultures & Groups > Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered'.
Perhaps if I'd let Yahoo do it's thing and post it there, they'd be friendlier? We'll see.
Thanks!

I am doing a project on the Beatles and I want to include the number of LPs they released. But I'm curious, is "Magical Mystery Tour" considered an LP the way, say, "Abbey Road" and "Revolver" are? Or is it an EP?

I have to give credit to Fonzie here, His answer about Kansas earlier just made this idea pop into My head

I have always considered the lyrics to the Kansas song
"Dust In The Wind" to be among the truest words ever written.
I was wondering if You had any songs You felt this way about?

I mean I understand hating the saccharine bubblegum that made up the latter parts of their careers. But I just cant help but wonder if any of the bashers have taken the time to listen to some of their earlier works?
Journey for example, put out three albums before tehy even discovered Steve Perry
Journey
Look Into The Future
&
Next
All three are full of excellent "Proggy" instrumentals
And their first two Perry albums
Infinity and Evolution are both quite good hard rock albums as well.
And Styx was an awesome Prog band in their early days, the songs "The Serpent Is Rising" and "Suite Madame Blue" are both amazing.
just wondering what Your thoughts on this were

What are some song titles that seem to have nothing to do with the actual song and it's lyrics?

ie: The Shins' Know Your Onion!

It often surprises me how some people won't go the extra mile to fact-check a CD's track list, to find the appropriate title to a song. Instead they'll find a few words from the chorus and slap it on as the song title. LOL. This is also rampant in media sharing sites such as Project Playlist, IMEEM, and Last FM.

The funniest one I've heard so far is "Hey Ho, Let's Go"
in place of The Ramone's "Blitzkrieg Bop"

Have you heard any other funny ones?

Buddy Mercer the Lord of the double bass in your face drummers, band mate and friend of mine , died yesterday in his sleep at home. Buddy played with a thunderous passion and power,He and I made music together for over 15 years and he will be sorely mossed by his family, firends, and fans.
Can you please give up a "Rock ON Buddy" in his memory.
"The Heavens will Rock with the Roll of his Thunder"

There's so much hate between these two groups of fans on Yahoo! Answers, as well as in real life. I listen to both genres, and they're both just different forms of musical expression.

Run-DMC (rappers) and Aerosmith (rockers) united for "Walk This Way"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8A0rhVG91U

Public Enemy and Anthrax came together for "Bring The Noise"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoLkaGcpJFA

Afrika Bambaataa and John Lydon of the Sex Pistols connected for "World Destruction"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93HWraYnSFc

Beastie Boys took the mics and Kerry King of Slayer took the guitar for "Fight For Your Right"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NdAUnnU9Ac

Here's some quotes from both rockers and rappers:

"These two kinds of music have always been similar in attitude; I never understood why there wasn't more of a crossover" - Scott Ian of Anthrax

"Heavy metal and rap are both defiant forms of music" - Chuck D of Public Enemy

Mine;
Bauhaus; Hollow Hills, which mentions witches and goblins

And, although this isn't a creature per se;
Guns N' Roses; Breakdown, mentions demigods. [Yes, I had to get some GN'R in there.]

I'm not even going to name any names, but we all know who they are. They put out one or two pathetic albums, then disappear, never to be heard from again.

I didn't care for some of their lyrics, but I thought their music was awesome, and they were great musicians. I also felt the lead singer was exceptionally talented. What do you know about them, and what do you think?
