In your opinion... does The Dear and Departed sound like a watered-down AFI (Decemberunderground era) rip off or an amazing underground band with lots of potential... or maybe a little of both?

I can think of a few to get you started;
Rory Gallagher - Irish
Les Harvey - Scottish
Tony Bourge - Wales

This question was inspired by a certain person who seems to think that there aren't any great guitarists from any of these countries. Depending on ones musical knowledge, I can see how someone might come to that conclusion. I can think of dozens.
How about you?

..that in 20+ years, there'll be a generation of people who'll be convinced the "good old days" of music were the early 2000s when we had "classics" like Fergie, The Pussy Cat Dolls, Fall Out Boy, MCR, Ashlee Simpson & disposable Idol winners??

I mean they didn't *ask* to be born when they were, so their aesthetics of music will differ, but man, compare Fergie to....Janis Joplin

Rock stuff please. Latest stuff or unknown great bands.

2007-12-18 09:55:23 · 20 answers · asked by Michele 3

I always wonder about that. I listen to the likes of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Van Halen, Poison, Uriah Heep, you know the classic stuff, I even like stuff like HIM, Haste The Day, Killswitch Engage, Goo Goo Dolls. I pretty much listen to every type of rock, and that includes Bon Jovi. I just wonder why people are ashamed of saying they like them? Bon Jovi got a better voice than 90% of all the other bands.

Bear in mind, 'Best Of' and 'Greatest Hits' are two totally different things. 'Best Of' allows for more flexibility (i.e., deeper album cuts, live fan favorites, etc). 'Greatest Hits' means pretty much just that -- radio hits.

Also, don't forget to name the artist you're doing. Try to limit the playlist to no more than 15-18 songs. Feel free to include rarities, B-sides, or maybe even a cover you would like to hear your given choice record.

One for me...

The Black Crowes :
1.) Peace Anyway
2.) Sting Me
3.) Virtue and Vice
4.) Ballad In Urgency-->
5.) Wiser Time
6.) Just Say You're Sorry
7.) No Speak No Slave
8.) Darling Of The Underground Press
9.) Remedy
10.) Go Faster
11.) Nonfiction
12.) Lifevest
13.) Thunderstorm 6:54
14.) Charming Mess
15.) Waitin' Guilty
16.) L.A. (Neil Young cover)
17.) Descending

one of the band members just starts chewing a fan out?

Spooky's question about Tori Amos flipping out on a couple of fans partially inspired this question.
So besides the Tori incident... Have you ever seen this happen in person? If so, please share your story.

I saw one of the band members in Dry Kill Logic practically get into a fist fight with a fan... the other band members had to pull him back. I guess the guy in the crowd was heckling them or something, that was interesting.
Then there's this YouTube video of Scott Lucas telling some drunk guy off in the crowd, it's rather funny. I probably shouldn't post it on here because of the obscenities Scott uses, but if you are interested in seeing it type in "Scott Lucas of Local H" and it'll be one of the first few that comes up (5th one down last time I viewed it).
