I know that Black Sabbath is probably the most important band that shaped/created heavy metal as we know it today, but I think that they've been put on a 'pedestal,' much like Jimi Hendrix.

For example, Satriani, Vai, Johnson, Malmsteen, or Petrucci could run Hendrix into the ground.

When it comes to heavy metal, I prefer Judas Priest and Iron Maiden to Black Sabbath. I know all three bands are important, but I can't understand why people automatically think Black Sabbath are the best metal band that ever lived. I'd take Judas Priest - I don't care who came first.

Besides, I like most of Ozzy's solo work (with Rhoads) more than his time in Sabbath.

Any opinions?

My friend was telling me about this new song out and some of the lyrics are something like 'Does he feel cool pushing you around'..or 'Does he feel cool when he pushes you around...' Something like that.. She says its by a punk bad.. Like The Fall Out Boys or All-American Rejects? HELP?! Thanks in advance!!

We are playing a song in band. We don't have a trombone, and trombone has the melody. Would it be possible to bump the part up an octave or two and transpose? Or would it just not sound the same?

What are some of the 1980s metal groups you feel should've gotten more success than was given to them?

Me I would say Heaven (an Australian metal band) should've been really big, they had everything from good musicians, catchy songs and alot of substance, former AC-DC bassist Mark Evans was in that band.

Another group I feel should've been huge in the states was Diamond Head, those guys were really good and I can see why Metallica and Megadeth was heavily influenced by Diamond Head.
