I would like to record the song "Goodnight Irene" on my upcoming album, but I am not sure if it is copyrighted. The original song is said to be penned by Gussie Davis back in 1886, but Leadbelly first recorded it in 1936 after claiming to have learned it from his uncle.

not that it makes a huge difference to me because if i like music i listen to it, but just for the sake of my own knowlage, can someone please tell me the difference between the different genres of music, and why is it so important to people? like how is death metal different from black metal, etc..... and wtf does emo actually mean??
