not that it makes a huge difference to me because if i like music i listen to it, but just for the sake of my own knowlage, can someone please tell me the difference between the different genres of music, and why is it so important to people? like how is death metal different from black metal, etc..... and wtf does emo actually mean??

Theres way too many different genres for me to list and explain them all, sorry! Besides, genres are often misleading.
However, its important to people because they have nothing better to make important in their lives. People who go around bitchin against this genre or that genre all day just have nothin better to do. Or theyre lookin for a fight with someone.
But the fact of the matter is, music plays to different ears. Not everyone likes the same stuff. No-ones right or wrong.

i agree. i don't understand why they are so different. I have three groups
Country Rock Hip hop and R'n' B
No matter what they sound like i'll categorise them in these groups ONLY

cause people are retarded and like to put lables on everything and then like to fight about it. and emo (music) is just music that is popy and is about bad relationships or sad things.
