"...these things are wrong
i can't stay here
...i have decided to leave you forever
i have decided to start things from here
thunder and lightning can't change what i'm feeling
and the daffodils looked lovely today..."

I'm a fan of early / mid '80s 'New Country' like early Dwight Y., Lyle Lovett, the O'Kanes, Sweethearts of the Rodeo, Nanci Griffith - where should I go now? It's too easy for knowing, self-referential, aren't-we-clever types to make 'Alt-country', without catching the power of Country's roots.

We all know Rudolf, Frosty, Jingle Bells, and others...but why haven't there been any NEW Christmas songs that have become classics in the last couple decades? Also, HOW OLD are some of the songs we know?

We are recording and want to retain the copyright to our songs. Someone at the studio said they can copyright our stuff, but this was not part of the original agreement. If we've payed to record can they steal our stuff? I'd also like to know if theres a quick way to copyright stuff just incase. Thanks =D

My truest passion has not come true, I have been playing guitar for 25 years. I am now in my mid to late 30's. I have always wanted to be a songwriter. How do I get started? How do I find a songwriting partner? I live in a semi-populous area of southern Connecticut.

Tell me about this band and what you think their best album is. I keep hearing that "Spaceman" and "Sonic Boom" are great and would like to know more about them and their music before they started Spiritualized.

Thanks

Just using bands or artist that you like and own records by? Mine are all rock but its whatever you are in to really. I have used surnames of solo artists but fore names are acceptable if you are stuck and i have dropped the "The" from some band names so that is also acceptable. i have also tried to use well known bands as much as possible. My list is below. There may be 10 points for a really interesting list but i will probably just let it run and extend it if i get lots of response.
Good Luck, see how you get on.

My List.
A= AC/DC
B= Bad Company
C= Cream
D= Deep Purple
E= (The) Eagles
F= Free
G= Guns 'n' Roses
H= (Jimi) Hendrix
I= Iron Maiden
J= Judas Priest
K= Kiss
L= Led Zeppelin/ Lynyrd Skynyrd
M= Motorhead
N= Nirvana
O= Ozzy Ozbourne
P= Pink Floyd
Q= Queen
R= Rolling Stones
S= (Bruce) Springsteen
T= Thin Lizzy
U= U2
V= Van Halen
W= Whitesnake
X= XTC
Y= Yes
Z= Zodiac Mindwarp and the love reaction
