Tell me about this band and what you think their best album is. I keep hearing that "Spaceman" and "Sonic Boom" are great and would like to know more about them and their music before they started Spiritualized.

My favourtie album by them is 'Recurring' but it's almost a Sonic Boom/Spectrum album for the first half and a Spiritualized album for the second half, as it was the last thing they did together. Other than that The Perfect Prescription is a good album.
I prefer Spiritualized stuff to Sonic Boom stuff now - have seen Spiritualized a few times and they never fail to impress. I have seen Sonic Boom when Peter Kember was part of E.A.R. (Experimental Audio Research) with Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine - wasn't very impressed. There's a tribute album to Spaceman 3, where artists cover their songs - The Mogwai cover of Honey being a high point and Low's version of Lord Can You Hear me is good too. Spiritualized have recorded a few old Spacemen tracks on thier albums
