We have all meet them, heard them playing at school, bad guitarists. We all have to start somewhere, but why do so many of them think they are good. I will admit I'm not that good, but I will admit that. I am willing to learn and most importantly taking music theory. There are too many guitarist who just want to play like their idol and that's it. I once tryed to teach a guy who says he had been playing for ten years, but he gave up the lessons in a couple weeks and just wanted to dink around. Why would you pick up an instrument and not want to learn how to play it. I can understand if it is hard you get discouraged, but it seems like with other instruments you give up. For some reason's guitarist who can't play continue to just dink around and think of themselves as ok players.

i have to write a 3-5 page research paper for a senior project. i am learning to play bass and for my paper i want to do a biography on a bass player. i cant decide who to do my paper on. i would prefer someone in the rock genre and is considered a good player. anyone have suggestions?

my piano teacher says I have a good ear. Does that mean that I am able to copy what he plays or memorize music? and does that mean I have a good ear for something else like learning languages or is that only applied to music?

someone mentioned a while ago that music, or a set of lyrics, say from the 1700's or 1800s, is out of copyright. Then, someone else made the valid point that this is only the case if no-one has re-registered the copyright.
I need to check a load of old folk songs. Is there any place online that I can check to see if these are free to use or not?

I was in Wal-Mart the other night and this song came over the PA. I really liked it. It had a Dean Martin/Frank Sinatra style. Maybe it was one of them. Anyway, whoever it was was singing something about getting knocked down but getting right back up again and getting back in the race... Any ideas? If Wal-Mart played it, it must not be too obscure. That's not exactly a sophisticated store...
