We have all meet them, heard them playing at school, bad guitarists. We all have to start somewhere, but why do so many of them think they are good. I will admit I'm not that good, but I will admit that. I am willing to learn and most importantly taking music theory. There are too many guitarist who just want to play like their idol and that's it. I once tryed to teach a guy who says he had been playing for ten years, but he gave up the lessons in a couple weeks and just wanted to dink around. Why would you pick up an instrument and not want to learn how to play it. I can understand if it is hard you get discouraged, but it seems like with other instruments you give up. For some reason's guitarist who can't play continue to just dink around and think of themselves as ok players.

its disgusting that there are so many of them. they dont want to be 'musicians' they want to be 'rock stars' or at least 'look cool'. they want to brag that they can play that song. they think they are good when they play a good song because they think that they are now equal to the orginal artist, which is so stupid, especially cause they didnt write it.

i think of Kurt Cobain is quite puffed up as a guitarist, yet he replaced into an quite sturdy musician in different factors to boot. BQ: a number of my favorites are particularly underrated as guitarists. Rory Gallagher, Robin Trower, and Neil youthful

this answer is really quite simple.. they do it because the guitarist ALWAYS gets his woman.. so they think "who cares if it sounds good or not".. they are still getting the girl in the end... it's sad but as a professional sound guy / musician I have seen that exact game played out WAY TOO many times..

I agree. I have worked in a pawnshop for 13 years and have endured to many crappy renditions of good songs trying to sell guitars to said people. Stairway to heaven, and wish you were here being on the top of the I cannot take it anymore list

Hey, as long as there having fun doing whatever they do...so be it. I've been playing for thirty years and I've met a plateau. I don't have the time or the ambition to take it any further, but I have fun doing improv stuff.
