If 'at the same time as' is "contemporaneous" is there a word that means 'nearly at the same time as'? I'm thinking the best option is "proxitemporaneous" but given that I just made that up I'm pretty sure that its not a word - any ideas?

its all about having fun when you are with your friends or you have them round using this web service but you can access web service on mobile phones aswell so dunno. any ideas? thanks.

There was once this guy that was fat.

I've seen arguments indicating that "There is a lot of people" is not grammatically incorrect because the subject of the sentence "A lot" is singular.

I've also read arguments on web sites that say "There are a lot of people" is the correct usage.

Are both acceptable, or is one more correct than the other?
