The word fiance?

Some spell it fiance, others fiancee. Does it matter? Or does one apply to female and the other male?

The answer that doesn't make me feel stupid about this question gets 10 points. :) Thanks guys!

One failed swoop?

One Foul Swoop?

One False Swoop?

or... One fair swoop?

Which one is correct and what is the history of this saying?

I think it is "One foul swoop." and that it is English or French and alludes to the executioners ability to get off a head in "One foul swoop?"

Right or wrong?

The reason I'm asking is because I'm required to do a project in which I have to convey the phrase's meaning through art or words.(poem, painting, rap, etc) Any ideas? I was thinking of drawing a lamb's head (innocence) where the lines are formed from vulture's wings (guilt). If you can picture that...
Anyways, what are your suggestions?
