Somebody told me that 'aabaad' (a word in Urdu language) means 'town'/'city'. This tallies in case of the names of the places-Hydarabad, Nizamabad, etc. But what do we mean by the same word 'aabaad' in Zindabad and Murdabad?

Can someone please tell me why Americans pronounce the word "herbs" as "erbs"?

Clearly there is a H at the front of the word and it is not a silent H. I thought it was only Cockneys that dropped the H off certain words!!!
