when/where is it advisable to use each?

Both are things not all people have. A sixth sense is defined as an ability to sense supernateral things, and common sense is the ability to react to things in a very basic manor. You cannot aquire these if you do not already have them. It is ALWAYS advisable to use common sense in everything you do. The sixth sense, I am not real sure you can "choose" to use it. It is kinda just there.

Define Sixth Sense

Common sense means to use your head and do what's obvious like driving, it's common sense not to drive on the left side of the road (in the USA or stated other wise)
Sixth sense is when someone who can identify another feeling that may or may not use one of our five senses Feel, Hear, See, Taste, Smell. A sixth sense is self explained and is claimed by the individual. They can say that they know when something is wrong and that they have a sixth sense when it comes to that. Usually it is common guessing and is just a way to tell someone that they have a hunch.

Sixth sense, as in foreknowledge of the future, might give you a glimpse of something that will happen, common sense would be knowing what to do about it. Let's say you saw a meteorite speeding towards earth 18 years from now, you might have chance to help "discover" it and warn the earth and help come up with a plan, or build your own shelter and start stocking up on canned and dried goods and "Ernest" video tapes to survive the havoc and break down of world order. Or if you saw it happening in 18 days, scratch plan one and go with plan two (skip teh Ernest videos if there isn't time). Or, you could freak out, be tranquilized and put in the psych ward without ability to prepare to survive it. To know what is coming is not enough, knowing what to do about it, whether you see the situation coming or get surprised by it, that is "common sense" and far nmore valuable and far less "common" then it should be. But some will say the lack of common sense is "Darwinism" trying to return the planet to a sustainable population.

Common sense= something you should be able to figure out without direction, advisable as in...don't chase the headlights...what does that mean? You will get hit by a car.

Sixth sense= a gut feeling....something that you can forsee before it happens. Um...you got a sick feeling about going to this party...you go anyway, and something bad happens, then you had a 'feeling' about not going...thats where you use the sixth sense

Common sense is a sense that is used to quickly adapt to different scenarios, or solving problems/finding solutions.

Sixth sense (as in addition to your five senses) is physical, not mental like common sense. Examples of sixth senses are:
Seeing spirits
Picking up slight vibrations (Sharks)
Echolocation
Picking up electrical impulses (most fish)
ETC.

The main difference between the two is that common sense is problem solving and mental, and sixth sense is an extra ability and physical.

Common sense is a sense of the logical; sixth sense is one of feeling, sometimes at odds with logic.

Common sense usually prevails and is nearer to scientific but sixth sense sometimes beats hell out of it.

Common sense is like sooo obivously...

...like you have common sense of when to talk with someone in whatever manner such as you already knew you are suppose to talk with teachers in nice manner...

and you knew you CAN talk with your friends in slangs language...you just know it's right...

Sixth sense...well u know about five sense? Hear, smell, see, taste, and feel...these are five senses...

For sixth sense...it's mean you have more than five senses...it's what people called supernatural...some people have vision of the future...that's sixth sense...my friend always have feelin' of women have divorce or not...that's her sixth sense...

I have sixth sense (called me crazy if u wanna) of know whenever someone is Jews or not...and another one is that (the fact I am deaf...means cannot hear) I have feelin' that someone tries to get my attention behind me...and I'm usually right...
