I have completed teacher training (UK) secondary in MFL, but I have realised that it is not really for me. I love working with kids, and I have always been interested in counselling and psychology (I have some certificates in those). I also have a son with autism and I am interested in that too.

I just don't know what direction to go with this. I want to do a job I can really get into, but I don't want to waste the teaching qualification which I have worked really hard for.

Knowing what we do about language acquisition, is there a critical period for learning a language, and if so, what happens if we miss that window of opportunity?

I would like to switch careers & become a high school teacher. One problem is that I want to teach social studies, but it seems like all the teacher training programs are for math, science and languages. Another problem is that, despite having a M.A. in my subject area, I don't have any teacher training or M.A.T.

Which should I do & in what order: go get a teaching degree? Teach math or science with the hope of switching to social studies? Teach in private school? Go get certified & take the PRAXIS test? Any suggestions would be most welcome.

My daughter is haveing trouble in algebra. Is there anything online that can explain it to her? I'm not looking for practice tests. I'm looking for something that will show her, and let her practice and show her what she is doing wrong.

This has been seen throughout the country, the replacement of teaching and conveying not only the course material, but common sense, life skills, and basic necessities that our youth seem to lack today.
