Well in long run, it will save us money and save lots of trees.
Of course, long interaction with computers and such brings disorders and diseases that we have not encountered.
Perhaps it would increase in number of disorder/diseases related to:
cancer
nerve disorder
Color blindness
Hearing problems
etc.

I asked the same question back in the mid 1980's. Since then I have come around to believe there is something intimate about putting pen to paper. Over the years I have marveled at the amount effort kids put into personalizing even the most mundane of assignments. I guess the answer is if someone came up a line of tablet computers that were user friendly, dirt cheap and totally indestructible then maybe books,. pens and papers will disappear from the classroom. Until then, I have my doubts.

Most people these days are illiterate, if they used computers for everything else they would come to rely on them to do their thinking. You have to learn to think, to learn to spell, to learn maths (mental arithmetic) then when you know these things a computer can be used to speed your learning.
Just look at some of the questions on these pages to see the depths of ignorance we are sinking to.
I know you want to save paper to save trees but people with computers still print everything instead of saving it on their computers.
For the system to work properly everyone must have a computer and even sending in your homework would be done over the Internet (no excuses the dog ate my homework) then you would not need schools, all lessons could be done over the net direct to your home (no getting out of bed) one teacher would reach thousands of pupils, think of the savings in educational fees.

School is not just for knowledge. It is a way of having a social life, of preparing society, of having friends and activities. Kids learning from a computer is a dangerous concept.

Not practical.

Besides, my company is mostly computer and we still kill millions of trees printing stuff out. Do you know how hard it is to proof read and mark up things on a computer screen....
