I'm 23 and was recently diagnosed with dyscalculia. It's really affected my life. I've always done poorly in math and have difficulty remembering numbers, following driving directions, writing numbers correctly, remembering math facts, etc. I've tried to do some research but there's not much information out there. Is it a new disorder? Does anyone have it or know anything about it? Can I fix it or make it better? Is it rare? I would appreciate any information. I feel like I'm the only one!

Hi I am 13 and I want to be a teacher in ABA therapy. It seems like a good thing for Autism (which I am most interested in). I also am curious about the other teaching methods too and I would really like it if you could include this information. Thanks!!!!!!

He can't even begin to understand or comply with "time out." He never sits longer than 2 minutes, has started just walking up and shoving students and teachers (including me-ouch!). He must be given extremely simple 1-2 word commands (John-no push; John-stand; John-no computer;John-no teachers' desk). HOWEVER, he walks around and makes repetitive statements, as most autistic students do, & they reflect his intelligence-"Windows XP," (he throws fits because he can't get on the teachers' computer), "Start Menu," "Water-Oceans," "United States America," "Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday," "Read Book," (then he states book title) Today he read four pages, then threw himself back down in the floor to kick everyone. He often lays in the floor & makes repetitive sounds (numnumnum..) He has to learn not to hit, kick, throw things . I have a bruise from one of todays' kicks & he went to 2 students' desks & shoved them. Any ideas? Thanks

I developed A shopping book with removable pictures of products they sell in a grocery store for my adult boarder. He can’t read or write well enough to make a shopping list. This book has helped him go grocery shopping without any assistance. I was thinking of putting it on the market to sell to other people that can’t read. Before I do I need to know if there is a demand for a picture-shopping book? Does anyone know how to find out?

First I noticed that in my boyfriend's class in special education there is only one girl. I'm in the gifted program and yes there are boys but the girls outnumber the boys. Lets say two babies are born. One is a girl and one is a boy. Why should one grow up with a learning disability and the other grow up and be normal in all ways. Now he's a really great guy but he has a problem with concentration and processing information. He's really very smart and we often sit together and read poetry or we like to read the same book and discuss it after. With me he can concentrate really well. Ive been told that males and females have different brains. I guess that means they think differently. Someday I want to marry him and I want ALL our children to take after their dad.

I just started working with several autistic children, most of which have difficulties communicating. I'm having compliance issues with a couple of them. In my past experience working with regular ed students, I learned that I need to be firm in the beginning in order to "keep them in line". However, this approach seems to be working against me when I"m working with this population of students. Any suggestions?
