My son has had dyslexia for many years. What helps my son is to use books on tape along with the book.He follows along in the book as its read.He also listens to just book on tape. Its also easier to use large print books.

Depending upon where you live, you may be able to use a library for the blind. We live in Mass. and my son has been approved to use the Perkins Library for the Blind and a library in Worcester. The service is free and you send books back paying no postage. For us, its a great service. It makes my sons life easier.Hes 17 now and still reads at lower level but he has things at his fingertips.

Using a reading ruler really helps the kids in my class that show dyslexic tendancies. It is coloured and has a straight line on it to help the text stop jumping around!! Or try pastel coloured paper or overlays...?
