I know you may think this is crazy, but I think this site may be helpful. http://www.rocketreader.com/. It increases your reading speed and comprehension. I haven't used it myself but a classmate did and she was able to double her speed and comprehension. I will likely try it myself.

If I understand what you are saying, you need 6th grade reading level material but are looking for subject matter more geared to 18 year olds. Understandable.

I don't know of any websites, so in that aspect I can't help you. Have you considered trying a literacy group. Most communities have groups to help with reading. Or look for one online. I am getting you don't want assistance but they may have a better idea of what kind of material is out there and how to determine the level of difficulty before you have read half the book and find it too hard to understand or babyish.

The library might be able to help, also. Good luck to you.

First of all, do not get upset. At one time I was told I had a fourth grade reading level. I was working in a office at the time.

I am highly involved and always busy. I have no clue who told you
this. The person who was supposed to tell me about my reading level did not and someone else told me. Yes, I was upset but I decided to read more. Books that I wanted to read.

You are interested in Sports and Movies. There are many books about sports and movies. There are also web sites on your interest and age.

Show them that you can achieve your dreams and goals. Believe in yourself.

Practice, practice, practice! Always read, read all the time. And if there aren't good sites to use, why not go to the library and choose your own books there? It's always easier (in my opinion) to learn by reading fiction, than non-fiction. It was true for me, because it was a book I chose and an adventure.. all at once. I had difficulties learning to read, and I started grabbing every Serendipity book I could find. Then, I grabbed 'A Wrinkle In Time', the first thick book I ever read in my life.

Remember, have fun with it! Choose an adventurous novel, or even non-fiction you know you'll dive into! :)

The only way to learn to read well is to read a lot. Anything. Everything. Read computer magazines or websites about computer games. Read about sports or particular players online. Read about anything you're interested in. The more you read, the better you'll get.

The fringe benefit of reading a lot (besides learning how to read well) is that you will also learn to write well and spell well. It's definitely worth it!

Could you clarify your answer? Are you looking for websites that will help you to read better. Or are you looking for websites that are easy for you to read at a 6th grade level?
