"cross to bare"

"I'm Jackie holt. These two photographs are of me. And that's my mamma. She’s come to get me. I have to go to her right away because…” I swallow and my eyes brim with tears again… “Because that’s my daddy. He’s dead. But I’m alive. I have to tell mamma I’m alive.”
That’s all ill say. I won’t tell anyone where I’ve been, because it doesn’t matter to anyone, except me and Claudia. I look at the picture of Mamma and whisper, “Buck up. I’m coming.”

I have to do 10 quotes or passages from the Russian novel Crime and Punishment. This is on the topic of Raskilnokov's (the main character's) "warm, compassionate, humane side." This is only for Part I. I've read Part 1 and skimmed it about 5 times looking for quotes that pertain to this theme. I only need one that i dont' already have. Can anybody give me a quote or give me a link to where i can find quotes that pertain to such a theme? Thanks!

I am applying to a school for medical and im not very sure how i should close my essay. I was thinking a quote about medicine but when i google it, it comes up with quotes against Doctors.

so if you have any good ones, that would be wonderful. It needs to be serious.

Georgia O'Keefe has been quoted as saying something like the following, although there are many versions of the quote:
"I've been absolutely terrified every moment of my life -- and I've never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do."
What is the precise phraseology of this quote, when was it spoken, and what was the context in which it was spoken?

I am writing a literary analysis and I've come across what I think is an allusion to Dante's Inferno. The quote is:
"Abandon hope, all ye who enter here"

It looked very familiar. Wasn't this message posted by the gate at the entrance to the hell?

Thanks.

Each man must for himself alone decide what is right and what is wrong, which course is patriotic and which isn't. You cannot shirk this and be a man. To decide against your conviction is to be an unqualified and excusable traitor, both to yourself and to your country, let me label you as they may.

who said "we shall not all die but when the last trumpet sounds we shall all be changed in an instant as quickly as the blinking eye for when the trumpet sounds the dead will be raised never to die again and we shall all be changed for what is mortal must be changed into what is immortal.

I take my wine jug out among the flowers
to drink alone, without friends.

I raise my cup to entice the moon.
That, and my shadow, makes us three.

But the moon doesn’t drink,
and my shadow silently follows.

I will travel with moon and shadow,
happy to the end of spring.

When I sing, the moon dances.
When I dance, my shadow dances, too.

We share life’s joys when sober.
Drunk, each goes a separate way.

Constant friends, although we wander,
we’ll meet again in the Milky Way.

My friend vaguely remembers reading a book in which a character speaks only in famous quotes. She also says there may have been a cork tree somehow seriously involved in the plot. Also it was probably set in a mental hospital. Any help would be greatly appreciated...
