It simply means that one's intelligence is not the only factor in how one's life will end up; determination, motiviation, and other such factors also play a part.

first off i think it questions the very concept of intelligence - there are many different forms of intelligence.

then there are circumstances that cannot be foreseen or changed.

not all circumstances can be over come - ie earth quake, flood, fire, dangerous areas, unsafe home.

there are many factors that may have influence on outcomes that do not involve intelligence - but intelligence may help to deal with it to a certain circumstance.

it means that just becaus you are smat doesnt mean you will succed in life. dome of the smaest people in the world end up in homesless shelters because they didnt have the right cahnces in life. so fate doesnt not soley depend on intellegence to go right. you just have to take the right choices.
