We are doing a VBS (vacation bible school) in the summer and am looking for inventive (and cheap) decorating ideas. We have several in the works but always looking for more! The theme is "Quest for Truth" which is sort of an "Indiana Jones" feel to it. Any ideas will be much appreciated! =)

My 5 year old son is smart as a wip. His vocabulary is amazing and he doesn't forget a thing. He sounds like an adult when he talks and knows things that amaze me. He also has alot of common sense. He loves putting things in categories and sort things out. However, we have a hard time teaching him how to recognize letters and thier sounds, which hasn't allowed us to be able to teach him to begin reading. We have been practicing for over a year and he still can not remember what some letters are much less how most of them sound. He hasn't started school yet because of his B'day. I used to think it was just immaturity and the lack of patience, but he is so smart other wise. How do I know whether its a problem or not. What is the best way to teach a child letters and sounds and eventually reading.

I'm thinking about taking their workshop in order to be able to teach it. I am already a certified music teacher (K-12) and I wonder if this is something worthwhile for me or if it will all be repeat information. Any idea how much they pay their teachers?

I am trying to compile information for a presentation I will be giving with three other people in my Theory and Guidence of Play class. I am more interested in the physical aspect of play in the early years...0-36 months...I'm really looking for the change a child goes through, ways to incorporate play in everyday activities, and the importance of play in that helps with learning.

I am just beginning to write chidren's books after 20 years of teacher elem/preschool, but at 56, not being a mother nor grandmother of young children, I need to update myself. They will actually be Christian books, but I just need to know what age group would be interested in seeds, planting and germinating, in very basic vocabulary of course.

It's not that I don't try----he just don't like the greens------like most kids/toddlers. I figured the best I could do is give him those Flintstones Vitamines. Is this a good idea since he doesn't get all the good stuff from his vegtables? Is there something else I could do or use in conjunction with the vitamines?

My husband and I aren't really wanting to send our son to pre-school. Instid I'm wanting to teach him all of his basic smarts here at home. I'm a stay at home mom so I'd love nothing more than to teach my own kid. However I am sending him to public school when he turns 5. I was just wanting some advice/tips on how to teach my kid his ABC, colors, numbers, etc. I want to also teach him to talk better. I want to make it easy, fun, and stress free for him so he actualy likes learning. He has different books that teach those things really well and I work with him all the time, but he just doesn't seem to be getting it. At his age I would think you could get them started on those simple basics, right? What good advice could anyone give me---Please!?

I am homeschooling my 4yr old, but I need some kind of structure to go by. I know there are some websites w/free curriculum, but I'd
like to know what some of the best are. I had twins, recently, and I've fallen behind on teaching her letters & numbers. I'd also like to
teach her Spanish. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
