An aide in a school district is based off of what the contract is for that year, based off of experience. Usually the starting wage is around $8.00 an hour. You can call the district that you are looking at and ask, they have to tell you. Even if you had your degree in Education and were still hired as an aide, you would still make the $8.00 an hour. The only way they can raise the pay is if you are hired for a certified staff position (teachers & administrators). Good Luck!

I work with disabled kids in preschool, which would include autistic kids if we get any, and work for a state agency that pays a lousy 8 bucks an hour. Now note I do not have a degree in social work or education. If I did, and some people I work with do, I would imagine it would be more around 10-11/hr.
