If some one calls you from jail and ask you to dial *72 and a number dont do it when you do this the caller would then forward your calls to a number and scam you.

They pick numbers Random

MIAMI - Jail inmates across Florida have been tapping into the residential phone lines of unsuspecting people to make long-distance calls, officials said.
The inmates make collect calls at random, then persuade the unwitting person on the line to press star-72 and the number to the pay phone at the jail. That forwards the victim's line to the jail phone and gives the inmate repeated access to the residential line to make calls - including long-distance calls.

The Miami-Dade County jail has been getting complaints from victims for about a year, spokeswoman Janelle Hall said. She didn't know the total number.

Some were scammed out of hundreds of dollars' worth of long-distance calls.
The jail added a warning to its collect call message that says dialing star-72 could make the person a victim of a scam. But victims don't pay attention, she said.
"The main thing to do is just don't accept the call," Hall said.

The scam also occurs at other jails, she said. (In the past year, there have been numerous reports of people in the Tampa Bay area being victimized by such a scam.)
Joan Church, of Williston in Levy County, said she received an unnerving call from Miami two weeks ago.

"The man told me there had been an accident involving two men and two women," Church said. "He said: "You need to call this number and ask for Dr. Allen."'
The anonymous caller told the 62-year-old retired widow to dial star-72, then call a phone number with a 305 area code.

Church said she has a son living in Homestead and thought she was dialing a hospital number.

Eventually, she called the phone company and learned she had activated call forwarding. She is still waiting for her phone bill to find out how many calls were made on her line.

State prisons have stopped similar scams by preventing inmates from unrestricted collect calling and three-way calling, said Debbie Buchanan, spokeswoman for the

When writing decades do you write them like 1990s or 1990's? I had a teacher that once did a 10 minute rant on the fact that no one does this right, but I cannot remember which way is correct!

My meaning is the whole span of the decade, not just the year 1990. Thanks for your help!

Why do we say 'Latin America' when we want to refer to a part of America that happens to be the majority of America. Since 70% of America is Latin America, while only 30% is Anglo America, shouldn't we assume that when we say America we are talking about Latin America and if we want to specify the minority that is not 'Latin' state 'Anglo America'?

I have a sister who's graduating from 8th grade this year but she doesn't have the best grades so I don't know if this might be a problem. I think she's a c student. I'm looking for a school that has great teachers, a school that is really interested in seeing their students graduate and go on to college, a school that has all kinds of programs and help.

About how many hours a night do you (or did you) or children spend on homework? For each age range?

Is it too much or too little?

How much do you think is beneficial to students, and how much is detrimental?

For people in school, about how much homework do you do versus how much your teachers assign?

Details are appreciated!

Education, why is it that I understand its importance in my life yet I can’t seem to be able to spark my interest in it, or if I am ever interested, I can’t find a way to get a full reward and to be satisfied with myself at the end? In courses with a laboratory portion for instance, I am 95% of the times interested in the lab work alone, I do really good in it, I enjoy so much doing research to write professional reports after doing the experiments, yet I do bad or just OK in the theory portion of the class, and that results in me ending up with a just OK grade overall, then going back to the enthusiasm I had at the beginning of the class, I feel stupid… how can I look at the theory with the same amount of interest as I do for the laboratory field?
