Hello,

(ANS) It sounds like a classic case is self distraction (also called displacement activity), you have basically avoided studying because you either DONT actually want to really study period? or you have lost your original self motivation (i.e. enthusiasm) for studying.

**The use of the internet can be highly addictive this is now a well recognised fact, using the internet for long periods i.e. many hours is also a form of escapism, it can induce a dreamy timeless almost medititive state for some people.

**IF your spending 5hrs or more each day on or using the computer and the internet then YES! thats NOT healthy. You should be able to have a more balanced attitude towards the use of the internet, be able to put it down & happily walk away & go do other things as well as having your web time.

**The internet can give the illusion of being connected to other people when the reality is your just one person alone in a room with a computer and that's what I mean about it not being healthy. Using the web is fine as long as its only a natural part of your daily life and doesnt replace real human contact, real relationships with others.

**The web is a good way to avoid contact, relationships & intimacy too.

**The internet is a tool, its a means to an end DONT confuse it with the end in itself?

the right thanks to save in recommendations slightly of suggestions is to make it a lot less stressful to save in recommendations. you could make an acronym for it or a track to flow alongside with it. yet otherwise you would possibly want to save in recommendations is to play a penalty/award recreation. Set a time that you'll study (shall we are saying 1/2-hour) after about 10 minutes are carried out, ask someone to attempt you. From the range you get incorrect, upload a minute on your study time. etc. also, not in any respect ever study contained in the evening. Its better to sleep early and awaken early and study. You shouldnt attempt this if you're undesirable at waking up however.

well take it from someone who spends hours and hours on the comp. as well

if you have messengers, email, myspace, etc., etc. open -- CLOSE THEM, don't even sign onto them!

just think, i know i'm going to end up spending loads of time on here and not get any work done, so i might as well not go on

set a timer for like an hour [just an example]. once the timer goes off. shut down the computer and go study

if all fails. UNPLUG YOUR COMPUTER!

hope it all works out (:

It might be a case of internet addiction. There are steps you can take to withdraw and minimise use to then become more effective in other areas of your life; as well as people who know it is not as easy as it may seem. Seek counselling and support (online and/or offline); don't worry about other people's negativism and underestimation of your problem as many have suffered from it.

You need to set yourself some goals and work out a specific plan on how to get there. Every time you are tempted to stray off your plan, ask yourself, "What do I want to choose right now? Do I want to choose to succeed in my goals or do I want to choose to fail at them?" Explore your feelings, too, when you are tempted to do something else to figure out what you are feeling when you tend to stray. Becoming aware can be half the battle.
