....studying for tests and exams right at the last minute. I always pass them but I'm scared that one day it may turn out differently. How do i get into the habit of studying in advance? I really feel that's the best way to do it.

When you are first introduced to a subject, make a point of spending ten or fifteen minutes a day reviewing the work you've learned. Just every day, whether you feel like you know it or not, whether you have the inclination or not, pour yourself a soda and sit with your book. It'll become a habit, and on those days when you honestly don't understand, you can allot more time. Try to figure out how it's related to what you've already learned, how you can use it in every day life, and maybe a mnemonic that works just for you.

When it comes time to study, you'll have already spent a good deal of time practicing, but spread out. A week before the exam go ahead figure out how much time you'll need to spend each day to cover the full amount (so four chapters divided by seven days (or six if you want to take a break the day before) is a little more than half a chapter every day)

Good luck!

It can be hard to get out of that habit. You just sort of have to take it slow. When you first start a new section that you will have a test on, just do a little extra effort than you have to for that day. In you free time study just a little at first. If your grades improve than you will probably want to study in advance.
