In one of my graduate level English classes, I need to write on either the theme of good vs. evil in Beowulf or the theme of pagan vs. Christian in Beowulf. Since this paper needs to be at least 5-6 paragraphs, I cannot just dicuss one paragraph on good and one on evil. I was thinking of doing a point by point method and thinking of either specific chracter, events or situations that best show the theme. Then each body paragraph would discuss a specific person, event or example that shows good/evil or pagan/Christian to separate the ideas. Does this sound ok?

i have a test pretty soon on them, and i really dont get them.. can anybody help me out?

could you tell me what ones i have wrong and how i got it wrong

1.) -5 + (-4) = -9
i add them then add a negative sign

2.) 2 + (-8) = 10
change the -8 to +8

3.) 12 - (-4)
change the -4 to +4 and subtraction to addition and the answer would be 16

For those of who teach either British Literature or Middle Ages History, I was wondering if anyone knew of a passage from a prayer or something done in Middle English that I can give my students to figure out. When we did Old English, I gave them the Our Father in Old English to see if they could figure out what it was. Any ideas?

According to Wikipedia we do still do this in the United States in schools? I was sort of shocked by this but on the Wikipedia article about it, it says they still do in many schools. I thought it may have been a vandel on Wikipedia, but I checked the history and indeed it has not changed on the article. It says in the article it happens in private schools alot, but it never mentions it's fully banend in public schools.

I get really nervous and i can't remember anything i learned when i'm taking a test. I try to calm myself down my breathing deeply but that made it worse. I totally choked and failed a test i totally knew the answers to. What should i do?
