1.) -5 + (-4) = -9
i add them then add a negative sign

1 and 3 are correct. 2 is incorrect as you typed it. The answer is -6. If you mistyped it and it should be
2 -(-8), then the answer would be 10

1.-5+(-4)= -9
2.2+(-8)= -6 because -10 is lower than -8 and u r trying to get to 0 so i will put some harder ones down so u can study
3.no it would be 8 because 12 - 4 is 8 and the - doesnt matter

1)-53 + (-45) 1)-8
2)34 - (-21) 2)13
3)-18 + (-3) 3)-15
ur welcome

1 and 3 are correct, but I think you're reasons are wrong, 2 is incorrect.

don't think so much about the signs, think about counting. A positive number represents regular counting and a negative numer represents counting down.

So 2+(-8) means you count up to 2 and then count down 8 numbers, you wind up at -6.

Good luck.

Look at number 2 again. You did that one differently from the other 2.

#1 is correct
2. is -6 you don't change the sign...
3. is right...the only time you change the sign is when they are the same..like minus a negative
