Homework Help - November 2007

I'm talking about any 'wall'...such as a fence (whether it surrounds a prison or a school playground), a wall (in a buildint, etc.), other walls (built to separate two/more groups, such as the Berlin Wall, prisons), other walls (walls put up to prevent people from falling into a hole in the road, etc.), mental walls (personal conflict, hate, etc.) . Any kind of physical OR mental barrier.

I'm really looking for two things:

1. Different kinds of physical/mental barriers
2. What they mean/symbolize, why they were built, your
opinions on them, etc.

This all comes down to the concept of separation: keeping one or more group away from something/each other.

Also, it would help if anyone had any ideas as to what the Berlin Wall symbolizes/means to you. Here's some info on the Berlin Wall: http://www.dailysoft.com/berlinwall/history/index.htm
There's some links you can click around if you want...

Thanks!

My algebra 2 class we had 43 grades the first 9 weeks (mostly homework). So far this 9 weeks we have had 16 grades (and were 3 weeks in). She gives us homework atleast 3 days a week plus quizzes, tests, bellringers, and classwork. She doesnt teach us. Thats why she assigns us homework. She thinks we will learn it ourselves by doing homework. Do you think its outrageous to give 16 grades over 2 1/2 weeks and 43 over 9 weeks?

I'm supposed to research about a current event on ecology, and I decided to research the carbon sink (ocean).

My tutor and I have discussed facts about the Icebergs melting, giving off more water, and absorbing the carbon dioxide, resulting that it helps slow down Global Warming.
I've not been very successful with my research on internet for this topic.

However, I've gotten a few good articles:
http://www.thedailygreen.com/environmental-news/latest/2845
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/discussion/2007/10/19/DI2007101901069.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_dioxide_sink
http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,483540,00.html
http://www.treehugger.com/files/2007/06/icebergs_might.php#ch02

I'm not looking for answers about the Carbon Sink, but a few articles to back up my facts, and am wondering if anyone else knew a good article for it.

Since this is a school project, I am only looking for an article, not answers.

Thanks for your help.

I have to build a model on Pangaea and me and my partners made shapes of continents and we glued magnet on the back of the continents. We're going to control them by putting the continents on a whole blue covered board and put some magnets behind the board so we can move the pangaea continents. Please, my science teacher said that the best and coolest project will be on display! Please give me some more ideas of how I could make the project more cool and more creative. It doesn't have to be complex but please, make it good enough so that I might get ours project chosen. My lazy partners hate complex stuffs!!! For example, you could give me some ideas of something moving that I could put a the board or anything! Thanks!

Graph using intercepts.

-4x = 8y - 5

I just need some examples of the x & y values that are possible (like x = 0, y = ?). I can't find a solution for the equation to do a graph.

I hope this makes sense at all...

Thanks firsthand.
