I am doing this English project on "To Kill A Mockingbird" and I have to think up some songs that would go with it this book if it was made into a movie. I also have to have why I would choose that song. Please help if you can.

Oh wow! My favorite book! And what a cool assignment!!
Why couldn't I have had such cool assignments like that when I was in high school?

Songs, hmmm... that's going to take some thinking... you might check out some period songs... see what kind of music (and lyrics) were popular at the time that the story takes place.

Or, think of some of the themes in the book and find contemporary music and lyrics that fits those themes.

As to "why" you choose a particular song... well, if you base it on themes and relationships in the story, there are some reasons to use a particular song. But, once you get "rolling" on this assignment, your own creative juices might kick in and provide you with a whole set of your own reasons for choosing a song.

Enjoy the assignment! Sounds like fun!

A beautiful book and a beautiful movie. I think that the one song that may hit the theme of the book/movie is "The Circle Game" by Joni Mitchell. The song speaks of the passages of life. The movie and book are presented as a reminiscence.

Get into the book and the writing. The rest will come. Looking for answers here defeats the purpose of your assignment. Literature is where it's at. "To Kill a Mockingbird" is one of the creme de la cremes. This is one of the rare opportunities you will ever get to express yourself. Take full advantage. Get off the friggin' computer and make some real art.
